The variator holding tool arrived (Buzzetti #5582) and it worked perfectly,cost about $13(US). I changed the original variator with a Polini Speed Control (P241647),cost about $65(US). The Polini roller weights are 6.9 grams. The Kymco roller weights seem to be just over 6 grams (any marks had worn off/weighed on a digital letter scale). I also installed a Malossi Kevlar X belt (M6113501) which is supposed to grip better and be stronger than the original, cost about $28(US). The Kymco belt (made by Bando) was in excellent shape having under 700 km of use. I took a short test ride and everything seemed to work really well. It looks like the northeast is due for about a week of bad weather, so I'll give it a full test run at the first chance that I get and report the results.        Paul

Thats the cheapest price I've ever seen for a kevlar belt.  I still have the stock belts on the People and ZX with over 10,000 miles on both and still going strong.  Last weekend was in the 50's, took out my People 50 and it actually wasn't that bad.  Keep us posted Phin.

I took advantage of the weather to test out the new parts and went for a 26 mile ride, ;D just to be sure. The performace of the scooter was better over all. The Polini variator is supposed to add another 3mph to the top end. I was hoping to get it up to 45 mph but I never did, it seemed to be a little starved for fuel. I'll have to install the larger carb jet and test it out again.  Paul

You said you have a different carburetor jet, did you get that at the place in Warwick?  Also, what jet number are you using now, and what are you going to switch to?

I am going to install the extra carb jet that came with the scooter. I don't know which size it is, but I think it must have been included with the scooter for derestriction purposes.   Paul

The derestrictions baggies that came with the Agility's that I have included the boss drive and main jet.  However, upon furthe inspection I noticed that the jet in the derestriction bag was the same installed on the stock carburetor, #82.  I was told that this is the standard jet.  I was also told to possibly go up to an #85 main jet but haven't looked for it yet.  It might be the same for you.

The only way that I know of to verify the size of a jet is with a set of wire gauges which are extremely costly. Jet size is marked on the head, usually.

Side Note:
Drilling a jet out is not a good idea, in my opinion. It will work but you'll never get a smooth finish and good flow with a drill bit. You could do it with a set of jet reams but, once again rather costly.

I've only been to Java Speed a few times.  They are the only Kymco dealer I am aware of in Rhode Island.  The best place I found for Kymco parts is Burlingtonyamaha.com.  They are right near the American Kymco factory in North Carolina, so they can get those hard to find parts and get them rather quickly.  I live in Newport and am great friends with the local motorcycle shop owner, plus the whole trip over the bridge deal is a pain in the ass, not to mention a $2 toll each way.  It's weird how the impact wrench works.  If you took a normal drill and put the socket on it, it would spin and spin and spin.  But the impact wrench pulses as it turns.  Oldguy knows more about this than I do.  All I know is it definetly works.

I use impact also but mostly for takeing the nuts off only its easy to put back on and find a way to hold good enough to put back on with out being to tight.
