People GT 300i Oil Filter ?
« on: January 21, 2012, 10:10:37 PM »
My new 2012 People GT 300i is ready for its first oil change at 600 miles.  However, I'm not sure where the oil filter is located.   Where is it?  The owner's manual doesn't mention it.  Is it an internal filter or screw on filter?  Also, is the filter for the Downtown 300i and the People GT 300i the same?  What is the normal cost of a new oil filter and what is the Kymco part number for the filter?   Would appreciate any help in finding a source for the oil filters.

I asked your question on the Downtown 300 forum and got an excellent response.

A big "Thanks" to Oldscoot for seeking the answer to my Oil Filter questions on the Downtown 300 forum.  The response from Munks was great.  Just what I needed.  I think I can handle the oil and filter change as a DIY.  Thanks again.

I read the responses to this question here and on the DT300 forum but Munks' responses were missing.  Did I miss something????

I need to do my 1 month/600 mile maintenance and I am curious as to where the oil filter is located.  Could someone fill in the blanks for me?

Thanks!

Drain plug and screen are on the "side stand" side, filter is a round cover on the bottom opposite side.

Thought you might like this link. Shipping remains the same for mutiple filters, making the price very reasonable.

Your engines oil filter is very important to the life of your engine.  It is necessary to change oil time to time in your vehicle which increases the life of engine and engine gives a good performance. You should use the best quality oil in your vehicle.

Considering there is no way of knowing what quality each and every oil is, other then
what the manufacturer decides to put on the label, he should use what the manual says.

I just went to the dealer to buy an oil filter for my 300 GTi and they never heard of the HF566 Hiflofiltro oil filter. They have sold many of these bikes and I can't figure out for the life of me how they did maintenance on them. The darn manual that comes with the bike never shows you how to replace the filter and I am guessing they were going by that. Nonetheless, my dealer is now ordering them and keeping them in stock for future use. I am thinking that some of these new Kymco dealers have not had much training on scooter maintenance. Also the place I go to has mainly sold motorcycles and within the last 2 years has been selling scooters. If you have a new 300 GTi, I would call your dealer to make sure he keeps these filters in stock.

Hi, y'all...new member on this forum and deliriously happy new owner of a GTi 300 (and 20 other scooters...and WAY too many bikes!). If you have a "Cycle Gear" near you they can order the Hi Flo
HF 566 for you. About 5 bucks I think...

I did a search for the HF566 and found this site
http://www.oemcycle.com/Item/product/900240604/noRediR=1/
The filter costs $2.94 and when I entered 4 filters in the cart the "super saver" shipping did not go up from $4.99 (to Ohio)
I've never heard of OEMCycle.com does anyone have any experience with them?

I did buy five (5) of these from OEMCycle.com and had a great online shopping experience:   Ordered last Wednesday, received them today in the mail (Monday).   Total price was 19.69 (14.70 for the 5 filters + 4.99 S&H).
