Aftermarket air filter for Kymco Like 200i
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:08:40 PM »
Hi Everyone,
I just got my Kymo Like 200i this month and I am excited with my purchase. I am from Singapore and still breaking in my scooter engine (200 Km clocked)

I am looking at some easy DIY enhancements to the scooter after it goes in for its first service. Things like say an iridium spark plug and a "K&N" type air filter. Has anyone on this forum replaced their stock Kymco airfilter with a high performance one? Any recommendations?

So far I have only been able to find this A 3 size filter sheet which can be cut to fit the kymco like 200i

I know an owner will help you too.
The first thing I would look into is fuel map re programing. This is common among all Mc./Scooter improvements. Along with that larger fuel injectors can be swapped for OEM such as Bosch injectors. They are most likely the OEM part anyway. Then as you said free flowing intake/exhaust, and a hotter ignition/performance plug. These are really the foundation of the performance of the engine.
Search utube for the fuel map control. MOST model scoots can be tuned with a Game Boy!

Just changed the spark plug from the stock plug to an NGK iridium plug. Can feel a slight increase in power and the sound is definitely throatier now :-)

I'm going to start a new thread about this, but the OEM airbox lid/inlet is EXTREMELY restricted.

Actually there's a little reducer that's been put in the airbox top lid that can be removed for a little oomph on the top end!
