Derestricting the 2012?
« on: February 02, 2012, 03:41:24 AM »
I haven't been able to find any info on derestricting the 2012 Kymco Agility 50 nor about the CDI.  Does anyone know about this, as the 30 mph limit is killing me.

Your cdi wont be restricted only older ones are, the rest of the derestrict is the same as for older a50's. Fit a Smooth boss and an 82 main jet.

..i'm not sure if kymco is doing this to the a50s yet, but the driven pulleys can also be restricted...

..only way to rectify that is to replace them..

Another question, would I see any increase in performance from an open air filter compared to stock?  If so, do you recommend any specific models?

Yes, performance will increase with th installation of a free-flow filter..

..however, you must increase your carb's main jet size when installing one, to keep your fuel mixture from becoming too lean..

..K&N filters are good, but there are several others out there as well..

..steer clear of the EMCO filters, as i know of 3 that have seperated from the mounting boot while going down th road...   :o

Do you happen to know th diameter of the filter needed to fit he stock carb wordslinger?

I thought of doing mine last summer but didnt know if it was worth it?Take it top end is much the same but you maybe got a bit more power with the k&n? How much improvement is there, is it noticable?

..the K&N part # for the a50 filter is RC-2290...

..i think that a filter and appropriate jetting is the best performance mod you can do to these 4ts...

How would I go about increasing my jet size and ensuring I have the a50 engine?

Also, won't water get in the cold air filter when it rains?

Is there no set jet size that people use with the K&N filter or would it be better buying a large carburetor with the K&N filter?  There are some carburetors on Ebay for decent prices.

As a general rule an 88 or 90 main jet seems to work with an open filter but all scoots vary slightly and it also would depend on the rest of your set up.

Think i need to get a k&n soon and upjet. Prob do it once it warms up a bit outside.

What about just derestricting without any other mods? Would that damage my engine or any other component?

I'm currently looking at this one.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNRESTRICTED-VARIATOR-DRIVE-BOSS-KYMCO-Agility-50-Vitality-50-Sento-50-/260881239776?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cbdbbcee0#ht_2136wt_1180

Would it fit?

Also, what is a good rated online store to buy a jet kit from or other components?  I'm located in the U.S.

..derestricting should not harm your engine..

..these scoots arent restricted to protect the engine, but to comply with local speed laws...
