Well just got a new DT 300i
« on: February 08, 2012, 02:24:00 AM »
Just got a 2011 DT 300i. I have a Yager that I'm going to sell. I like the Yager but the wife didn't.
I see a lot of people get the led tail light...where did you get them from and are they PnP.
Any other things I should do let me know....
Thanks

Jay

Welcome to the DT 300i ownership. While these are great bikes you may not get the MPG you did from the yeager.

There is a load of info here but to your questions the Stop/Tail light is PnP but the turn signals will require load resistors. There ae a few places to get the bulbs and several links in the forum. I don't want to push one vendor over another............

Thanks for the info I'll get reading. Yes I mpg were great on the Yager....but I don't mind giving them up for a bigger bike. I do hope I get over 60 mpg.....

Congrats! I get a tad under 70mpg fairly constantly. Worst I got was about 55, and that was flogging it over twisty mountain roads. I'm also not light on the takeoffs, and I haven't checked since putting in the 14GR sliders so it might be different now.

For the guy who just got the 300 and had a Yager, may I ask how tall you are and what pros/cons in terms of conform you've noticed (seat height/position, etc).   I'm six two, 32 inch inseam and debating between these 2 scooters.  I want to get the one that guys with my frame will be most comfortable on.

Thanks!

well I'm about 5'8.180lb...and for me the DT fits just fine. The Yager felt like it had more room because of the flat floor, but for me the DT is much more comfortable. To me the two bike seem to have diff jobs. The Yager being small easy to zip around with good top speed and ease of use, and don't forget the MPG...I got 80 most of the time. The DT is more like a motorcycle to me. Good handling more stable, not bad MPG. But with that size comes some bad things too. I can't really get away with parking anywhere I want ( no one looks at the yeager parked up by the bike rack) and in the yager I could speed past a cop at 20mph over the speed limit and they just look right past you. Everyone looks at the DT, and it looks like its speeding when you are stopped. I don't think I would put one over the other. Now my wife did not like the back seat on the Yager. the DT is much better there. And that was the main reason I made the switch to the DT. I had a grandvista a few years ago and thats what the DT reminds me of...any more questions let me know.

I'm 6' 1", 245 lbs, 10 1/2 shoes/boots and broad shoulders! I didn't feel comfortable at first with my new 300i but people on here told me I would get used to it...which I have. The only part that bothers me still is the slant of the short driver back rest. I never feel back far enough but feel I would be more comfortable if that part was vertical. In all, I am pleased with this unit other than what I just mentioned and the defined engine idle going down under 11 mph or so while cornering. Good luck with your new purchase, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Am Thinking Spring!

have you tried just leaning back some.....kind of like relaxing in a chair. I do that some times and it does feel a lot diff to me.
Just an idea

Not quite sure what you mean by "leaning back some"? Are you saying to actually feel your hands/arms pulling back on the handle bars? I have never concentrated on doing such but of course I will try it. Sounds like one has to stiffen up his arms to do that. I need much attention on the feathering the throttle for corners as I mentioned elsewhere.
