CVT Roller weight???
« on: February 27, 2012, 03:35:48 PM »
Does any one know the stock roller weights for the CVT? I was looking at changing over to the Dr. Pulley sliders, anyone have experience with those?

Since posting this I read that other 250 scooters have 23x18 21g rollers, can anyone confirm this? Is it the same for the GRand Vista?

Anyone at all, is this like the Verizon Dead Zone????

Thanks in advance, Luke

Since my last post. I took my stock rollers out and weighed them. They appear to be 20 grams each. So in the hopes of gaining a little performance without sacraficing top speed and MPG, I ordered 19 gram DR. Pulley sliders and just put them in.

Loving the 19 gram sliders. Still run 80 mph top end, but have enough power to ride two up. I live in Southern Ohio, so we have some hills to climb. Also getting 70 - 75 mpg highway.

What was your top speed before?  What did it do to the rpm at top speed, are you running higher rpm now at 75? And are the quoted 75 mph indicated or GPS measured?

Is that indicated MPH, or actual GPS MPH?

80 MPH top speed is GPS. Its hard to tell with the digital tach, but it looks like I am turning about 6000 rpms at 60 mph.

Can i get top speed at lower engine RPM? At less than 6000 or 7000 rpm?

What I observe the engine has the most torque and power at around 7500 rpm.  If you would gear too low you probably don't achieve the top speed at all any longer. I think when it turns around 8000 rpm in this range you should achieve your best possible top speed, and "true" 80 mph is mighty fast for a stock 250 scooter.

My bike's engine starts consuming the engine oil from around 6000 rpm. From the max. level on the dipstick the oil descends to the min. level under 1000 km of riding.

I will respond in another thread called "reducing oil consumption"; this is not the right thread here to discuss it.

What is the weight of these genuine rollers?  I found it at a local website at the equivalent of 20$.

Even though your weights look a bit different, the part number for OEM roller weights is correct.  I have an OEM package for sale on e-Bay.

What if i put 24 or 30 gram rollers? My rollers have flat facets, instead of being round.

DO NOT put any heavier rollers in, you will get much less acceleration and hill climbing (too low rpm), but you can put up to 2 grams lighter rollers in, which improves acceleration and hill climbing,  but probably loose some top speed.  Best is original weight or 1 gram less with roller weights.

Even with flat spots some roller weights usually still work pretty good.  Don't forget, slider weight are flat too.  CLEAN all surfaces e.g with acetone, that is important, but do not oil.
