Issues while driving
« on: March 02, 2012, 05:16:50 PM »
Hi all,

A couple of times over the past month or so while driving the scooter, it seems to lose power or something. It doesn't die or cut out, but just slowly decellerates even though the throttle is being held open. The first time I pulled over, shut it off, restarted and it was fine. A couple of weeks later, the same thing happened but this time I just pulled over and waited a mi ute before trying to go again. I am hoping to hear some thoughts on what I should be checking. I don't know if it is related or not, but I can't start the scooter after it has been sitting more than a day or two without putting gas directly into the carb with an eye dropper.

I love this scooter and am not afraid to work on it. I've completely took apart the carb and cleaned it about a little over a year ago. Do I need to do it again?

Thanks!

It may be trash sucking into the pilot jet. Lots of issues w/ that from the fuel blends around now. I would pull the carb and COMPLETELY disassemble/clean it. Use Brake clean, or carb clean in a can to blow out the passages, and jets. Could be other things too but sounds like carb. A NEW plug, and air/fuel filters go along with that.
