Engine
« on: March 03, 2012, 08:36:05 AM »
I have 2006 grand vista. Drive shaft , bearing and piston blow apart. Engine is now dead. Is it better to buy a new engine or try to fix? How much is a new engine? Where can I buy new one? Can any grand vista engine fit on scooter?
My e mail is clfoley1954@yahoo.com, in case I do not get back right away.
Thank for any help
Chris

Urbestfriend believes this may be the same engine/driveline on several Kymco models.
At least for me,  I have a Grandvista and Xciting 250.  Here's what I'd do.  Assess what
parts you'll need.. Then check out a Kymco Parts List on the Internet to get an estimate
of parts.  If you can't fix it yourself,  then it's hard to estimate cost of labor.

Then look on E-Bay.   I'm not sure if an engine rebuild is worth the cost of buying another bike.
Another used bike may be a better solution.

The engine is shared w/ other Kymco's. You will have to tear it down to see exactly what damage occurred, and more importantly WHY. Stadium Yamaha www.stadiumyamaha.com/ has the best prices on parts. Mention Kymco forum and you get free shipping. Check their site for prices, and availability. A phone call to them will yield better results once you know what parts you need.
Can you post the engine code? I have several sources for complete engines.
