Kymco building the new BMW scooter for BMW?
« on: March 05, 2012, 01:35:05 PM »
I read on the Modern Vespa forum that BMW is having Kymco build its new maxi-scooters.  Does anyone have information about this?  If so, it supports the reputation for quality that Kymco has been earning.

Hendrik v. Kuenheim (CEO BMW motorcyle) confirmed this Nov 2011.
Kymco builds the engine for BMW with original BMW machine tools and license.
The complete engine is shipped to Berlin-Spandau for final assembly with the chassis and other parts.
Kymco already builds the G450X engine and Loncin (red China!) the G650X engine. Rotax is slowly getting out of business.

AFAIK, for the past 4 year Kymco has been making 450 cc engine for one of BMW's enduros.
And that's it.
