Might check the fuel filter and see if it is full or not.  If it isn't, either the filter may be clogged or the fuel pump has gone bad. --- Could be a carburetor problem too but check the fuel system out first.

I actually regularly use the rtv silicone to make gaskets for the intake manifold and the cylinder gasket.  I make sure not to glob it on and I always wipe the edges where it counts so nothing will get clogged.  My advice to you would be to go through your fuel system again and replace the fuel lines, fuels filter, clean carburetor, draing and clean the fuel tank and clean or install a new spark plug.  The fuel systems on these bikes are super finikey.  The smallest thing will screw up everything.  There is no fuel pump so you don't have to worry about that.  It's a gravitational/vacuum operated fuel system.  A word of advice is you can't clean these fuel systems enough, I've had to do this several times in order for some bikes to work properly.

ok i replaced the autocock, fuel line fuel filter and ignition coil.cleaned the fuel tank out. it ran for a little bit then at about 30mph it quit responding and shut down, would the cdi have anything to do with this? I was told by a parts guy that this particular scooter always had problems with these. its a 2000 kymco zx50 2stroke

Does the problem only kick in when the engine's warm, or also when it's cold? I had a similar problem recently with a warm engine. Turned out that my variomatic weights were shot. Surprised the hell out of me, as I thought it wouldn't have responded at all with the weights in the state they were.
Good luck.
Fin.

well i got the new cdi, but i took apart the cylinder head and noticed the metal gasket was bent and had been leaking a little gas out the back corner of the motor, i used the metal gasket and some rtv so hopefully this will fix my problem  ;D

hi, just a little add on. i have had the same problem with kymco factory cdi units. my scoot would run until warm, and then either die completely or loose power to the point i could only limp home. i have had three in the past year, and am in the process of trying to find a reliable replacement. i have posted this under new racing cdi. the only knowlagable response i have had has been from jiangwayne.com. lyn xu informed me they work with a manufacturer in tiwan that makes a derestricted cdi that has the correct timing curve for the zx/50 super fever. the bad news is it will take 25 days to ship to my address in fla. i will post the results
