More Money!
« Reply #30 on: February 12, 2013, 04:34:03 PM »
MSILSF Vice-President, Capt. Lew Laurito, has once again opened his wallet and posted an additional US$500.00 prize money to be awarded to the winner of Class II (101cc to 175cc). This brings the total prize money to US$2,500.00!

Revised Entry List
« Reply #31 on: February 23, 2013, 12:56:58 PM »
The revised entry list is attached for your perusal.

Brock had seven "teams" finish in 1971. I attribute the modest number of entries to our "one rider/one scooter" Rule. It probably gave a lot of wanna-bees a harsh reality check about their skill set and the level of preparedness required for our event.

Please Note: The Real Cannonball, sanctioned by Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation, is not affiliated with www.scootercannonball.com, an 8-day timed/scored rally in which "[p]articipation is limited to scooters with an engine displacement not more than 250cc" held in even numbered years.

MSILSF Event Executive Kathleen Hilz and I were invited to the Portofino Hotel and Yacht Marina on Friday, March 1st, to discuss The Real Cannonball with the Marketing Director. For those too young to remember, the Portofino Hotel was the finish venue for Brock Yates' Cannonballs. I took some photos and made some short videos to commemorate our trip. These may be viewed on my Facebook.com page at www.facebook.com/scootermeister.spears.

The Real Cannonball
« Reply #33 on: March 19, 2013, 06:20:49 AM »
This message board forum has received an extraordinary number of hits. To insure there is no confusion between The Real Cannonball ~ World's Most Extreme Endurance Race, sanctioned by Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation (MSILSF), and the historic rally known as the Scootercannonball, appearing on the web as www.scootercannonball.com, MSILSF has been using the following notice/disclaimer:

"Please Note: The Real Cannonball ~ World’s Most Extreme Endurance Race, sanctioned by Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation www.motorscooterlandspeedfederation.org, and Lake Erie Loop www.lakeerieloop.com, is not affiliated with www.scootercannonball.com, an 8-day timed/scored “rally” held in even-numbered years in which riders take eight days to complete this event, making nightly stops in designated motels, and in which '[p]articipation is limited to scooters with an engine displacement not more than 250cc'."

Why the notice/disclaimer? Please, stay tuned!

Hi All,

Here's the latest:  Motor-Scooter entries officially closed at Midnight, March 30th!

MSILSF Extreme Endurance Racer Stan Scott / Honda 250cc Helix, pre-entrant in The Real Cannonball, Class III (176cc to 300cc), posted this excellent blog: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8747398)

MSILSF bidded on, and won, a "real" Civil War Cannonball from the battle of Vicksburg, July 4th 1863. This stunning piece of American history will be awarded as an additional trophy to the 1st Place Overall Motor-Scooter Winner.

Cheers.

Alan

What's on MY mind? I don't think MSILSF Extreme Endurance Racer Stan Scott is stopping to mail postcards either! We finished minutes apart at Hell's Loop T.T. 2012 375-Mile Extreme Endurance Race after white-lining (splitting lanes) in heavy bumper-to-bumper holiday traffic for 63 f'n miles from Baker to Barstow, CA!
