Vitality 50 2T turn signal buzzes
« on: March 13, 2012, 02:24:40 AM »
Hey, everyone.

How's it going?

Well, the title says it all. When I put the switch in either left or right, the relay buzzes like crazy and the signals do not work. I bought a new relay and the exact same thing happens.

So, today I put the old relay in and it may buzz a bit, but then the turn signals will come on, they just won't flash. It's hit or miss, sometimes it will just buzz, other times it won't while the non-flashing signals or...happens in both directions.

Anyone ever have this issue before? How did you fix it?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Your Battery.... ;)
The baterry is to weak to run the turns and the relay just makes all sorts of racket.

Agreed. Either the battery is shot/not charging or the flasher unit is shot. Test the voltage on the batt. while sitting, and again reved up to over 2000 rpm. The stationary should read 11.5-12.5v, and revved up it should be 13-14.1v.

Thanks for the responses.

I'll check the battery in the morning. I'm guessing the flasher is still good since when I put in the brand new one, the exact same thing happened.

Funny thing is, when we got the scooter, the battery was an issue. Yet, we didn't have the problem we are having now.

Anyway, I'll see what happens and give a full report.

Thanks, again.

That is the ONLY reason I have a battery. If mine is dead or even week my flashers do the same as he describes. I just buy those 7ah emergency lite batteries. They're 7 bucks from the Interstate guy. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=opera&rls=en&q=7ah+battery+12+volt&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=5113652070696083570&sa=X&ei=TulnT_aAG4OGsgLa__GlCQ&ved=0CIMBEPMCMAA
They last about the same as the gell cell for 1/4 the cost. I DONT have electric start either. Just the blinkers.

The zx more than most others too. The stator doesn't work till 2,500rpm. And there is a 35amp limit on top of that.

Cool, gang.

Yeah, they battery is definitely on it's way out. It has to be kick started every time...should've mentioned that. Gonna have to look into one, regardless.

Ok, it doesn't get ridden much anymore, actually belongs to my wife. I start it up every once in a while and take it around the block.

Didn't get to it this  morning, so tomorrow will have to be the day.

Full report to follow.

Hey, gang.

Well, I finally got a chance to ride the scooter today.

I had the turn signal in the left position and as soon as I kicked started it , the relay was buzzing like crazy.

As soon as I gave it some gas, it stopped buzzing. Well, I rode it around the block a few times, and when I would use the turn signal, the lights wold actually come on, just would not flash.

I charging the battery up right now, but I'm sure I'm gonna need a new one. The Mrs. won't ride it until it's working properly.

Hey, zombie...that battery in that link looks a little bit taller. How's the fit?

Anyway, I found a bikemaster battery, but hey, a cheaper battery would be fine.

Anybody?

Thanks!

It is actually longer not taller. It fits in most scoots. I did not fit in a 50cc mini Quad with out some rearranging but it is close on most.

Hey, zombie.

Well, I took a look at the battery in the compartment. The battery JUST fits. Not gonna get a longer battery in there...oh, well.

I've seen some batteries online that are REALLY overpriced. I may hit a few places tomorrow after work...we'll see. I'm sure whatever I find in a bike shop will be overpriced, too, but at least there won't be any shipping charges.

Guess we'll see, huh?
