I installed a Malossi variator on my 2011 super 8 2t and it added no top speed. I noticed a lot of belt dust soon after the install. It was burning up my belt. I went back to the stock Var with no speed loss and no more burning belt.  Most people think the rear driven pulley is also restricted on these scoots. I have not changed it yet.

Yes the spring is the white one. I'll try the other rollers, I just don't want to lose any top end. Do you know the size of the factory belt? Mine is destroyed and I can't find the size. I don't know how to find a Kevlar belt, most sites do not show any parts for the 2012 model year and I'm not sure if the previous years are the same or the four stroke model is the same. You have me concerned about the wear from a Kevlar belt.  Are there any other options?

You will most likely GAIN top end by going lighter on the rollers. If they are TOO light you will loose top but 10's are WAY too heavy. Look up any year S8 on this site. http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/  some scoot models list the actual size on the parts diagram. If the size is not listed, copy/paste the part number, and google around till you find at least two sites that list the same size. Kevlar is really only used for hi performance set ups. It is tougher on parts, and doesn't last as long as polyester/nylon belts but it will not slip in the pulleys.

how light can you go on rollers? I'm running malossi 8.5g on stock variator with yellow contra and clutch springs. Is 5.7g too light? it came with my leo vince exhaust.

they may be on the edge of too light.. I run 6.5 with a Malossi blue spring. Try them, and see. If they are too light you will have super high rpm, and lower top speed. If they are right you will have higher rpm, and higher top speed. You could also mix them 50/50 to see if that combo's avg. is better. Then get a proper set at that weight.

Yeah, with the new belt, I got a little speed back, but it's still just not doing it. Put the Malossi 9.0g weights back in instead of my 6.5g Ninja sliders and the speed is up again. I can't win! I swear the scoot just likes me to keep tinkering!

My next plan is to just get a variety of weights and see what works best for where the scoot is at now.

I wanted to pick up a muffler and install my air filter and jet it, but a Triumph Thruxton is looking more and more likely in the spring!

I have read that the ninja sliders "act" 1 gram lighter than advertised. So your 6.5 sliders are more like 5.5 gram rollers. Waay too light. Try 7 or 7.5 rollers, or 8 - 8.5 sliders.

Alright zombie I just put kymco 6.5g rollers with blue springs and yellow clutch. Running with 70bbk and de restricted Leo Vince exhaust. My top speed on flat is 74-76kph. What's yours?

I hope to get more top end after installing my malossi final drive gears

zombie's MIA at the moment. Sounds like you're doing better. I'd think you'd be up around 80kph, but 76 isn't too far off. A slightly longer belt may get you a little extra top end, I know it did for me.
