Cool!

Sucks doesn't it. Kymco spend money to restrict it and we have to spend money to derestrict it.

Good luck! You should get a least 45 out of it with some tuning.

My kit came in and I installed the exhaust first. First ride over 40 MPH, an easy 10 MPH gain from that alone. Plus awesome acceleration. I then put in the new variator and weights. I didn't really see any results but I have different weights and springs to try. I'm just happy this thing has potential. I was really starting to worry. I'll keep you posted of final results.

Bigger main jet? Tell more about the kit? Name of the exhaust?

I still have the factory main jet installed. I think I should change it as I fear it could be a little lean due to the new exhaust. The kit is called a stage one performance kit from provoscooter.com. The kit came with technigas RS II expansion pipe chrome, malossi variator, malossi racing cluth spring set, ruima variator roller tuning kit, uni filtered air vent, and I ordered a set of 10 gram roller weights. I put the racing springs in today and the 10 gram weights. It now will go as high as 47mph on slight downgrade. I'm going to need some time for testing different weights and a larger main jet. The biggest improvement from everything is the exhaust. It's a little loud for my taste, but is acceptable.

Change the jet right now! You are running lean. and can be doing serious cylinder/piston damage right now.

I can't believe this so called "kit" didn't come with a larger jet.

I run a 91 jet on my super 8 50 2t with stock exhaust and opened up airbox.  The plug chops are coming back good so I know you must be burning that thing up.

Definately need to upjet.  Try out that stock jet you drilled out to a 97.  That'll be much closer then your current if you have a Uni Filter and that exhaust.  Not fun learning the Hard way :'(

I put the larger jet in that I drilled out, probably around a 97. It wouldn't even idle with the air box installed. After a bunch of trial and error I ended up drilling a couple more holes in the air box so it can get more air. Went for a couple hour ride last night with my wife which included some wide open cruising and some 15 to 25 MPH through a suddivision. This is the best this thing has ever run. Great power and acceleration and I checked my plug and I'm  not running lean. My wife tells me to leave it alone.I think I'm done for now. Thank you everybody for all of your input.

Hello again. Just a quick update. Scooter is running great with about a 45 mph top end and decent all around performance. It could be a little better out of the hole as my Zuma pulls at first then the super 8 gets it on top end. Now the bad, I smoked my belt with under 500 miles on it. Any ideas? I'm told I need a kevlar belt, but cant seem to cross referance the size. When mine let go I was at top speed and when I took it apart all that was left was about a 5-6 inch piece and a lot of dust. Thanks for any help.

Wow! 500 miles. Something's not right. My factory belt lasted 13,000 km.

The issue there is the 10gr rollers. It's alot of strain on an oem belt. Have you tried lighter rollers? They will get you better take off. If 10's are correct then you do need a Kevlar belt. The issue there is wear on the rest of the drive train. Kevlar wears the metal. What contra spring is installed? The white one from Malossi? You could easily run 6gr rollers w/ that.

Yes the spring is the white one. I'll try the other rollers, I just don't want to lose any top end. Do you know the size of the factory belt? Mine is destroyed and I can't find the size. I don't know how to find a Kevlar belt, most sites do not show any parts for the 2012 model year and I'm not sure if the previous years are the same or the four stroke model is the same. You have me concerned about the wear from a Kevlar belt.  Are there any other options?

A 2011 and a 2012 are the very same scoot. No changes.
