Well, after almost two years of having that green wire coming off the CDI unplugged I plugged it back in just to see what happened. I don't know about the rest of the Peoples, but my 2010 2t has no restrictions in the CDI. I hit 50mph+ with no problems as usual. Just wanted to put that out there. I'm guessing none of the newer models do either.

I was running my 2t 2001 people on a dc fired no name cdi from ebay. She ran over 50. Last week the cdi died. I went to my local wrench, and she had a plastic box full of Kymco cdi's. She said that some were restricted and some were not. They are all used, and I can keep on trying them until I find one that is de-restricted. She has a few with the green wire plugged in. She says that when the green wire is unplugged, that it is de-restricted. Is this the case? I am going back over there at lunch tomorrow to give one of those a try. Riding around on a restricted CDI sucks! My top speed is 40 mph, and it feels as though someone is tappping on the brakes over 40mph even going down hills! Cant wait to get back up to speed. She is my daily driver that I miss the power at the mid range speeds, and speed at the high end.

The older models yes, you unplug the green wire to de-restrict.

Somewhere around 2008 or 2009 and after models, the cdi is not restricted. Probably because they restricted the exhaust so much . I rode around for almost 2 years with that green wire unplugged, so it won't hurt anything to try.

I have not yet tried one of the green cdi's with the green wire attached. I saw that she had three of them in her used kymco cdi bin. She also had a handful of brown ones with no green wire, and plum colored ones with no green wire. all Kymco though. If I know that i will have a de-restriced CDI if I take one of the green CDI's and unplug the green wire, then I will take it. No more guessing. Will know for certain about 24 hrs from now. I will swap it out at lunch time at wrench's place and drive back to work. I will keep you posted.

On my 2001 People 2T, a restricted Kymco CDI got me to around the 40 mph range. Yesterday at lunch I swapped it out with a Kymco CDI with the green plug set up. On my way home from work, I was consistently seeing 53 mph on the flats. So, on the older 2T's it seems as though a restricted vs un-restricted CDI makes a huge difference.  I also noticed that the engine seemed to behave differently in the mid to upper range with the Kymco CDI, vs the E-Bay DC CDI that I had in there. With the E-Bay CDI, she got to the mid/upper range really quick. Top speed on flats was usually around 50. The Kymco unrestricted CDI is a bit slower getting through the mid/upper range, but seems to allow more rev, giving me a bit more speed.

Like I said, the newer models are much more restricted. Glad you're happy with the performance.
