i finally got my main jet 82 and smooth 38mm drive boss today not yet put them in but decided to finally cut CDI as hoping to have it finished this week!

was a lil surprised how much the speed changed with just the cdi cut! my top speed on a flat road is 39mph is this good for just the cdi being cut or average

i just read a post saying if cdi is cut then boss MUST be done! will it be ok that iv cut the cdi today and do the boss later in the week

You should be fine just do not go to much over 30mph to keep the revs down once you get the smooth boss done your drive belt can travel further up the variator so that will then help keep the revs down...

...it's not as bad on a 4t, to ride a little while with the cut cdi and restricted boss...

..wouldn't want to do it with a 2t for very long tho...

I ran mine for about a week like that and it was fine. I didnt bother watching my speed either cos my A50 only has 2 speeds, WOT or idle  ;D

39 is real good too, i only got about 34-ish.

Isn't that the point of a 1500rpm conta spring?  To keep the revs up and the belt low for more power climbing hills?

I just ment that you are now getting more speed on more rpm as you have only derestricted the cdi i would have thought 10,000 rpm+ can be hard on the little 4 stroke as i doubt valve springs etc were designed for such high speed operation continuasly......

I'm replacing the drive boss now but when reasembaling the nut you lossen to take the belt off we tightened it but when reved engine the bolt lossened and the round thing lossened and it just made a gringing noice should I used lock tight?

done it and all seems fine! top speed on straight ish / flat stretch is 71KPH used a converter which says thats 44MPH tho i didnt think it was that close to mid way between 40 n 50 i though maby 43 but al take saying 44 haha

this is with only cdi done and drive boss done! any ideas how many mph they main jet 82 will add?

A big fat Zero mph prob. Maybe 1-2  if youre very, very lucky. My guess is none tho.

then y change it if it doesnt do anything different lol btw the drive boss in my bike was already 38mm im sure i read somewher that they r like 39. 6mm standard and not smooth! the one in bike wasnt smooth but was exact same dimentions otherwise

Yeah the smooth boss is the same length as the restricted one, never heard of that other length ???

The reason to change the jet is so you dont run lean and wreck ypur engine. You may get away with the #80 jet left in but since it only takes 10 mins to swap over.......

Run it then check your plug and see if its lean or not. Typically A50's seem to all run better on the #82 jet after derestricting. I ran mine for a week on my 80 jet till i got hold of one after i did mine.

..smooth...no step, oem...

..also has a shorter belt, and restricted driven pulleys and non-adjustable carb....
