Top case and emblem delete
« on: April 16, 2012, 08:43:37 PM »
I've always preferred naked, so I decided to pop the top case off and that just lead to taking the emblems off. It helps with keeping these dummies thinking it's a 50 when I pass them at 60  ;D ;D

Don't mind the pup, he only bites car drivers!

I like your like! You can stick a "50cc" emblem on it to really have fun!

Still looks great! Did you notice any top speed difference after removal?

..no decals make sentinex sad :-\. Anyway looks good, but I honestly like bikes with a lot of decals, it gives them certain flair, personality. But in all you did a great job, enjoy. ;D

Thanks for the complements all!!

@Vivo Now that's an idea!

@wassonii To be honest, I haven't really done any high speed runs on it yet. Well, minus a quick run up once. I just turned 200 miles about 30 minutes ago, so I'll probably give her another minute or two before I start beating on her. Once I get it good and broke in, I'll take some runs and let you know if it really makes any difference in top speed, but if I was a gambling man, I'd say no. The top case weighs all of nothing, so with my 200 pound rear on there I just don't see it making any difference.

@sentinex I plan on slapping a good many decals/stickers on, just with my own stuff. As you said, a bit of flair and personality is a good thing, I just don't see much flair or personality in having the same emblems everyone else has, but to each his own! Thanks for the complements and I'll post up some pix once I get my own touches added!

Nice looking scoot. I just got my Like 2 weeks ago (same color) and have been debating on taking off the badges & topcase too. Glad to see some pics of what she can look like. Did you use the fishing wire/goo gone method to debadge it?

I just notice that it really looks like a classic Vespa with no Decals, all you need now is the leather buddy seats and you golden. good looking Scooter.

This classic style scoot will look great on leathers and chrome, IMO. A nice windshield, chrome plated wheels and trims, chrome pipe, chrome luggage rack, leather seats with steel stud accents, etc, etc.

Wow...great looking scoot!  Thanks for sharing pics.  You got me thinking now about the case removal.  Be safe!

I want to remove my top case as well, but I also want to remove the silver piece it sits on. It would appear there are only 2 screws that hold it down. I was a little hesitant as its a brand new scoot. Any reason why you did not remove the rest to make the scoot look more streamline?

How easy was it to remove the chrome badges and how did you go about it?

I love your brindle boxer. Such a handsome boy! We have a fawn female about the same size and we joke that we're gonna get a sidecar so she can ride with us. If my girlfriend didn't need a place to stash her helmet when she rides, I'd take off the top case too. I like the looks of the stripped down scooter. The top case makes it look like a pizza delivery bike.

You know what would look killer on your awesome looking machine?  A chrome front fender trim piece.  I love the black color and really like what you did.

Nice look to the Like. The stock emblems are an eyesore in my opinion.
