300i (2012) or 500Ri (2010) for same price.
« on: April 20, 2012, 12:09:26 AM »
Greetings All,

While shopping for a (2012) 300i, my dealer offered me a brand-new, 2010 500Ri for the same price.  Anyone got an opinion on which one they'd buy?  Thanks!   :)

The one that I would buy would be determined by how they rode for me and how they looked for me.
That has very little to do with which you would buy.

So, what did you think and/or do ?

Scoot safely,

Why don't you test drive both? the 300i is a nice scooter, powerful and slim, not sure how it would handle in long distance trips. The Xciting 500 is designed for long distance trip and it has a powerful 500 cc engine. Like someone said choose the best for your riding style, but if you planing to do some touring the 500 is your number.

On a personal note If i had taken a look at the 300 I would probably go that way instead of the super 8, just because the 300 can get me farther out, but still is not really a touring scooter like the 500.

Grass is always greener on the other side?  What if the Super 8 was a 300? Hehe!

Love the 300 and 500! Very difficult choice. Maybe, you can expand your research by comparing maintenance cost of the two, spare parts cost, fuel consumption, utility factors, frequency of repairs, durability of parts, availability of parts, accessories, and others like "head turning" factor, smiles per hour, etc. Good luck!

I have a Downtown 300i-ABS from a few days (In Spain this model is called SuperDink) and  I'm very happy with it.

A new bike with its warranty of two years is most valuable.

Here, the Yager is called Dink, the Grand Vista is Grand Dink....

Thanks everyone for the insightful advise. I decided to go with the Downtown. A bit more nimble for NYC with the power needed for traveling in the nearby suburbs. Delivery due this weekend. Wish me luck!  :)
