Worth the 2K more than Yager?

I am considering the People 300 and the Yager 200 (175).  My biggest concerns are top cruise speed and cost.  Is it worth it to pay the extra 2K and get the People 300 over the Yager?  I'm not positive whether I'll want to actually put in highway miles but I'm worried that getting a Yager would limit me to everything but highways (well, interstates).  Am I correct?

If it helps, my wife will be riding with me sometimes.  We're both short and lightweights.  My wife may operate the scooter herself sometimes as well.

The 300GTi is a nice well round machine, It fast, powerful and doesn't look like a whale(I am looking at you xciting 500). It also will take you in a highway with no problem.
The Yager is a good looking scooter designed for  urban commute, proof of that is the small wheel base 12 and 13 inch respectably versus the 16 inch wheel base for the 300GTi. At the end is your decision but I would invest the extra 2K to get me a world class mid to high range scooter specially if you planing to go around places farther than 30 miles.

You're getting a lot more bike, versatility and comfort with the 300.  I've owned a People 200 (which may be comparable to the Yager) and the 300 is, IMHO, better in every way you measure a bike.  It will carry you and your wife more easilly and with greater comfort.  Ultimately buy the bike you are most comfortable with.  The $2000 may be recouped to a degree if and when you sell the bike.

choice then the People) and will use less fuel.. the People (and Downtown) is a serious bike,
capable of high speeds, touring etc.

To each his own, but in this comparison, the Yager is just a great scoot, the People is something
else.

But again, Downtown might be an even better choice if you're looking at the Yager in the first place.

Thanks.  That's a good way to look at it.  It makes sense that a scooter with a more powerful engine will more easily carry the two of us.  Most trips will probably be made by just me, although it wouldn't hurt to have too much power.

Do you think a short, thin female would be able to operate this scooter by herself?  I guess we can always find a dealer and test drive.

Easier to use is a plus in my book.  The first step is to get my motorcycle license.  However, the fact that I've gleaned that the Yager shouldn't be taken on roads with speed limits above 55 mph could potentially be a problem.  If I decide I want to go on longer trips or go on the highway/interstate, I can't really do that on a Yager.

As someone previously pointed out I need to determine my needs.  I'm trying to do that but considering all of my options.  I really don't know if I'll feel the need or desire to take my scooter out on the highway.

i have a yeager and a people 300.
yeager top speed with me (230 lbs.) is 65 at 8000 rpm.
i have trouble finding a good seating position on yeager. always have to use upper foot boards.
never rode 2 up so no comment.

people top speed with dr pulley 15 gram sliders is 80 but the acceleration is outstanding.
    "      seating position fits me fine. excellent on highway, 65 or 70 mph.
also no 2 up.

By all means find one to test drive - or at a minimum for your wife to sit on if she's going to operate it herself.  If she's really short - then you might consider the Downtown 300 with its smaller wheels.  I don't have saddle height data in front of me - but the 300 GTI seat height might be a little tall for short female.

Once again, I believe the most important question is usage.  We all picture ourselves riding coast to coast -- and more often than not end up taking most of our rides to the grocery store.  The smaller bikes are more nimble and easier to push around in the garage.  They are less challenging to ride.  How about a GTI for you and a used smaller bike for the wife - at least to start with and get experience.  There are a number of small women in one of my clubs and the shortest rides a lowered Harley 883 SL or her Buddy 125.

My Yager red lines at 65mph.  On the super hyway I am usually just below 65.  I have been up to 75.  I get about 65-70 mpg.  I have only done short rides at high speeds, 20-25 miles.  I find the seat quite comfortable even though it does not look comfy.  I am 5'8" at 205 lbs.  No leg room problem.  Always one up.
