2002 Super 9 lc. HELP!
« on: May 06, 2012, 09:02:06 PM »
HI!
Im new here, and got this scooter 3 days ago

I have a 02 mod. lc.
tried to cut the green wire in the CDI box today.. not a good Idea!
I wanted to remove the revlimiter, but it is stil stucked at 45 km/h.

Here is the problem:
Now my scoot wont start! Ive reconected the wire, but it will not start anymore. The spark plug is brand new. and the e-start is good.
do you know the reason?

And please, tell me how to make it faster:) its stuck in 45 km/h!

THANK you
// Niklas - Norway

There is also a drive boss in the CVT that needs to be replaced with an unrestricted one.

The green wire doesn't need to be cut - it just unplugs, and is on the back of the variator, not up front with all the rest of the plugs.  If you cut that green wire, the CDI will not be grounded, and will not work right.

The green wire in the photo here is not the one to cut.

Thank you for quick answer:)

Ive ordered a unrestricted drive boss from e-bay now.

So Its no point cutting any of the wire on this model? Non of them has anything to do with limits?

And why will it not start when the green is grounded again:( It worked just fine when i cutted it, and allso when I grouded it with the -pole. but when i reconected it as original, it didnt work. So no it will not start what ever I do:(

If it runs when you connect direct to ground then just run it like that. The wire may have had a bad connection somewhere that failed when you disturbed it. The light green on Kymco is the ground. No harm will result.

Its no longer starting with it directly connectet neither:(
I found a black box beside the cdi. This one was a bit rusty inside. I hope this is the only problem..

Is it any chance I messed up the cdi box while testing different ways connecting the green wire?

How many fuses are they? the little glass fuse beside the battery is all fine.

Thank you guys

The black box is the starter relay.  If it's rusty, it should be cleaned up a little.  THere are a couple of fuses, both will be close to the CDI/starter relay.  You have to pull the whole CDI out, and you should see the green wire that you need to unplug to de-restrict it.

Do you know if your scooter has spark at the plug?

In a thread here called "Links to Manuals" under the general section of the forum, you will find a manual for either your S9 or a people 2t. There is a test guide to figure which part is bad. could be too many things so you will have to do some "homework"

Checking ohms on green wire (ground wire) + negative battery should give low resitance.
Checking volts DC on blue/black wire (this is the wire from the ignition switch, supplies 12 volts DC) + negative battery terminal should give 12+ volts.
Checking ohms on blue/yellow wire (this is the wire from the pickup coil) + negative terminal should give 130ish-160ish ohms.  A test light (LED type) should flash when turning the engine over if set up the same way.
Test light on black/yellow wire (this is the wire to the coil) should flash when engine is turned over.

Double check kill switch also.  Sounds like a simple thing, but I've seen it enough times. :)

What do you mean by dropped it at the plus pole/sparked? The Battery +?   If the green wire going to the cdi hit (12v+) it fried.
