Gates belt update
« on: May 06, 2012, 09:11:16 PM »
In the past some people on this forum were using the Gates belt PL30071. I think one guy said his belt broke at 3,000 miles? And another guy said he had around 8,000 on his and going strong. Can anyone out there give an update on the Gates belt they are using? Good, bad, or ugly reports please. :-*

I'm at 6000k and no problems so far.  Going for my first appointment since buying the bike.  Bought a 2008 model that hadn't been sold (bought in 2011)  shockes in the front dried up (I guess) and they leaked.  On the guarentee so no problem.  (other than the inconvenience of losing 12 a day).

One table spoon of Brake fluid in each shock softens, and repairs leaking fork seals

HoHo, I'm talking about updates on the gates belt users, not updates on the bike it's self. But thanks anyway. I feel if the gates belt at $51.00 gives a good service life, maybe we all can benefit by this info?
