A couple of weeks ago the fuel gauge on my Explorer had dropped down to 1/4 tank. So I drove over to Costco (the cheapest gas in town) and filled it up. I was shocked when the total sale reached $56, so much so that I decided to sell one of our cars, much like Tom Hanks in
Larry Crowne, and get a scooter for putting around town. As a retiree, 99% of my driving is on city streets with speed limits of 45 MPH or less, so a scooter made a LOT of sense to me and the wife.
After researching scooters, I decided the Kymco Super 8 150 or the People 150 would be exactly what I needed. The Super 8 is a better looking scooter, but the People's 16" wheels are what sold me. Interestingly enough, there were a number of Super 8's in the local
Craigslist, but no People 150's, so I went to the local scooter dealer and purchase a new People @ $2,899 plus tax. Here's a picture of the scooter with my wife:
It's been a long, long time since I've been on 2 wheels, so I've just been scooting around my neighborhood until I'm more comfortable on the P150. FWIW, I'm quickly getting used to 2 wheels again!
I have one question - where can I get an inexpensive fabric (no vinyl, nylon, rubber, etc.) cover, hopefully custom fitted for a P150 with factory mirrors? Amazon or eBay are fine. Note that I want fabric because here in the Tucson desert, I'll only need to shield the P150 against sun and dust. Thanks in advance and see you around this forum.
