New Downtown 300i Rider!!!
« on: May 14, 2012, 10:09:00 PM »
Hello fellow Kymco-ites!!!   ;D I've just purchased my new DT-300...and was zoooming around town all weekend!!!  8) Quite a scoot! It's amusing to see the "double-takes" people give when they first see it...as I'm sure they're not (initially) quite sure what it is.  Well, any tips?  I appreciate any heads-up you ladies and gents can provide me with concerning a new bike for a (realitively) new rider. Thanks ahead... Hope to see you on the road.... Happy scootering... :)

MrSolo, congrats on your new ride...you will have many hours of enjoyment with it. What color did you get? Where are you located? If close, yes, would be nice to see you on the road! GOOD LUCK!

I just hit 100 miles today on my new one myself.  I guess my one tip would be that reading some old threads you should be sure to use high octane gas or you might meet with a hiccup or two.  The manual recommends 91 or higher.

Just relax in the seat, and keep both hands firm on the bars. Don't worry about the cool bike wave.
Kick the tires, shake the bars, bounce the seat, start, and go!
Ps... Use a Good drink holder. You don't want your ice cubes flying around.

That 91 is really 87 in N. America. As someone else said if it doesn't knock or ping on it higher octane will not help.

I'm located 23 miles N.E. of Pittsburgh, PA along the Allegheny River. I had a choice of boating, biking, hiking, sailing, fishing, hunting, bar rooms! and I chose scootering!! Even though it's seasonal, I have plenty to do in the cold months.
