I've had experience with Gasohol/Alcogas in the 70's. It was a government experiment and we had no choice. 20% alcohol was the mix and these were the problems I encountered with my car:

1. Vapor lock after parking under the hot sun. Car became hard starting.
2. Had to change the fuel filter once a week.
3. Had to change the fuel pump check valves once a week because the alcohol melted them. It was a good thing the fuel pump was repairable then.
4. Alcohol corroded the small mesh screen inside the carb inlet. Had to remove it, permanently.

I boat and although I havn't had any problems I did have to install a new 10 micron filter so I wouldn't void the warrenty on the Yamaha eng. Other have had problems with the fuel tanks eruding (fiberglass) rubber seals falling apart fuel pumps failing, connecting hoses disintergrating etc... Todays cars are made to withstand the "E" in our gas but e15 is not something I'm looking forward to. It's a bigger problem in boating as it separates from any water in the fuel but it can still present problems.

Not to mention the loss of power.

You are really growing on me 008! Like Scotch.. or asparagus... Welcome to the Anti Flat Earth-er's League!

The whole Eth deal is like putting laxative in certain drugs... Cut the junk, and double the profit! No other reason. I do repair/restorations but Mechanical work is thru the roof from BAD GAS! With summer coming, and everyone having stale fuel issues my regular work is falling further, and further behind. That's why I'm up posting at 3 in the Morning. No time.

With summer coming,...
I hope! +1.5°C this morning in the town on the flat. -12.9°C in the mountains.

Why stale? Our local shipping traffic was only handicapped for some days in the winter.
You said Florida is cold, but then you probably have ice breakers too (or could borrow from Russia).

E35 isn't optimal for a carburetor at +1.5°C, but fuel injection still works well.

Don't know, can't confirm. But partly Russian & French.

BTT: local water temperatur is mild +15°C. People are bathing/swimming. Our Sea-Doo season is all-season (with wetsuit, if necessary).
