Going for my road test tomorrow AM
« on: May 23, 2012, 07:12:29 PM »
Bringing my passport, SS card, (car) licence, scoots reg. & Ins. anything else you think I might need?

I made my appointment online with NJDMV (called something else these days), do I need to bring any confirmation of the appointment? There was nothing to print and I didn't get an e-mail to confirm that I'm aware of.

Thanks in advance,

08

Dont forget the $50/$100 note, just in case he's going to fail you  :)

"Well Mr 08087, im sorry to say that...."
"Is that your $50 bill on the floor?"
"Er, Yes? .....as i was saying. You passed Mr 08087. Well done."  ;)

Hopefully you wont need it. Dont run over any kids or old people, dont ride on the sidewalk, do not race cars away from the lights and obey traffic signs and you'll be fine. You can do all of the above once you get the license.
Chaos is my co-pilot.

A two wheeled vehicle? or do they supply them in America?  It's a long time since i passed my test, consisted of driving round the block until examiner pretended to jump out in front of me, to test emergency stop.... i ended up sideways but wouldn't have hit him... so i passed!!

Yes the new helmet I bought with full face protection (required for the test), I'll also be wearing a highly reflective safety vest. In NJ I bring my own scoot and I don't need anyone with me to watch over my driving prior to getting my lic.

So yes I will be bringing my own scoot.

They do that six points of identification song and dance:

http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Licenses/6PointID.htm

But it sounds like you're covered. Are you having someone bring your scooter, or will it be delivered on a truck or something? They're pretty picky about that and may check to see if the truck/scooter rider has their license and everything as well. When I read about all the hoops you had to jump through I took the MSF safety class instead.

Best of luck,

-Wolf

As I understand it (from DMV office them self) I don't need another lic. rider with me when I practice anymore. Used to have to in some time past but they said no longer. I should be able to pull up and test as long as I have my paperwork in order.

I hope thay gave me good info, I'll be pissed if they tell me otherwise. They may even try to stop me from leaving without a second rider at my side if that's still the case.

Don't scare me bro.

OK, so I get up, get all my paperwork in order drive the 15 miles or so to the DMV road test site wait for a testor to come over only to tell me, "We don't do cycle raod tests in the rain" Me: But it's not raining it's like a London Fog and there was no mention of this on the web site.

Him: If the raod surface is wet we don't test, you could slip and fall." Me: I could also slip and fall on my 15 mile ride here and back home".

What I wanted to say was, "you don't want to get the least bit wet watching me go through the motions on your course, so now that you have 15 minutes to kill you can go have that doughnut."

So a day wasted on nothing, no lic. yet, can't drive at night yet. Bummer! So untill next week it's puttering arouond in the day and car to work at night.

That is the most ridiculous thing i have heard  ???

Cant test in the rain  :-\  if they did that here we would only have about 70 test days/year, if we were lucky.

Take it you dont need to pay to again? Just need to play their games i guess till you get booked on a dry day, bummer  :(

Knowing NJ some mammby pammby sliped and fell, sued the state for allowing an unproven driver to operate in a potentialy unsafe condition and walked away with a bundle.

So now they no longer test in the wet. Lets hope the sun is shining on the 24th.

Same here, but they rig your car (not bike) to make sure you fail!, then you give the money....

There's no test for motorbikes. The mere fact that you rode the bike to get your license means you can ride a bike. When the examiner asks "You have a motorcycle?", just point to it at the parking lot and you pass.
