Rode In The Rain!

I wondered when it would happen and it did yesterday. With a friend on his motorcycle, we hit the road on a great looking day but than...."Rode In The Rain". I planned for the possibility so placed my wallet in a zip-lock, dry jersey in the box and my camera in the box in a large zip-lock just in case. The box is water proof. With the rain coming down and in a wooded area road way with no place to pull off but under trees we didn't chance the lightning and kept riding. Rain stinging and wetting but visibility good being I had rain-x'd my mask. It was so hot and the rain actually felt good and thought the only thing I am worried about is if the bike would quit. No, it went through the rain...no problem and we were but very careful on the curves so we wouldn't slip out. Yes I had a cheap poncho under the seat but felt what the heck...not going to use it. So, this was a good experience and no harm done. One member on here wrote to go ride it now and that I did!!

I would put your camera and such under the seat. The box bounces around much more than the under seat storage. It will beat to death anything in the box. I use it for clothing, jacket etc.

I purchased 1 inch foam from a hobby store and lined the bottom of the box bottom. For the top of course are the hold down straps in the box making it pretty safe for traveling. I find that under the seat, there is too much heat. When I go to shoot pix's, it is also convenient to take the camera out of the box, place my helmet in place and go! Thanks for your thoughts though.

Night and rain with good lights and a good rain suit not a problem.

 Other than constantly clearing the visor of water (BTW I find that Nikwax Visor Proof works great for water repelling visors) I find riding in severe wind way wors than rain. I've ridden, all be it carefully, in torential down pours... I ride year round and the only things which park me are snow and icey days.

I'd rather be riding in the rain then endure torture from Axy here.

Thunderstorms, rain suit kymco is just fine.

"Rain Suits" brought up here....is there a particular type/kind that is better than others? I simply used a cheap flimsy poncho and it wasn't the greatest at all. I have a heavy Yellow Rain Suit Top & Bottom separate but is is as mentioned...heavy. It's the kind you see people in industry etc. wear. It would be like putting on winter clothing!

Looked around and found this site and ordered.... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/11/101/589/ITEM/River-Road-Rainstorm-Two-Piece-Rainsuit.aspx I would have  liked black bottoms but couldn't order light top and dark bottom. This should surely be high-Viz!

That's too cheap to be waterproof.
A pair of waterproof (really waterproof) gloves will cost $100+

Even if it is water proof if it doesn't breath you will get wet anyway from inside it.
