New Windshield and Trunk for my B&W 250
« on: June 03, 2012, 03:36:58 AM »
Wanted to share some mods I made to my 2006 B&W 250. Cuppini 30inch tall winshield is a bit tall but so am I so it works great for the highway. Bestem 929 truck fits perfect. The windshield can be bought at www.denniskirk.com and the trunk can be bought on www.amazon.com. See pic.

Hey it's look like great and fantastic. It's very creative and innovative idea to add Windshield. You can protect against the dusty air and wind as well as when you drive bike that you did not need spectacles. Please tell me what price of it and where you install this part on your vehicle.

Cuppini makes the windshield and it ran me $136 shipped from www.denniskirk.com.

Nice to see another Bet and Win out here, I have a 150 and have been wondering how to attach a trunk on it. Did you need to get an attachment peice, or did it come ready to put on? For $89 that's a great deal!

Thanks :)

It came with a universal mounting bracket and I just screwed that into the hard plastic rear grab bars that came on the scooter. I have had 2 12-packs of beer in there and it still holds the weight.

Looks great. At least your hands will be a bit protected from the elements.
Let us know if you have any wind / noise issues.

I installed an excellent quality touring windshield 2 years ago and it also looks great and probably saves me a bit of fuel.
However, the noise is terrible and I have to ride with earplugs.
Also, crosswinds have become a bit of a nightmare, so I remove when the windy season starts.

cheers

I am new to this forum and fairly new to scooting, but I just wanted to say thanks for this thread.  I sold my Volkswagen to pay for nursing school, and I desperately need more carrying capacity!  I took my scoot to the local dealer and they didn't have anything in stock to fit my B&W.  Ordering this trunk today!

I've had my B&W 250 since May.  I drive it almost every day, and I am now a junkie :)

A question:  About to install the trunk, and I see a warning on the fiberglass of my bike where the installation plate will sit.  Warning states weight should not exceed 5 kg (11 lbs if my math is correct).  The weight of my trunk is something like 10-15 lbs, I believe, unladen.  I see Trancebear has carried 24 beers with no issues.  I intend to haul a couple of non-gargantuan nursing textbooks or a change of clothes.  So we're good with overshooting the 5 kg limit, right?  Thanks for helping out the new guy (or chic, as it were)!

Puig is definitely better looking in my opionion.  :)  And waiting for a report on the Michelins as those are probably the next purchase for my Downtown 300.

I have put 25 pounds in there. If you ordered the same case as I have it weighs like 5 lbs.

Thanks, Trancebear.  I was going by the ship weight, which I assume included packing materials, boxes, etc.  As you say, the trunk itself can't weigh more than 5 lbs.

Got the holes drilled last night, and I'm going to purchase some shorter bolts today.  Hope to be trunkin' it by tomorrow.

Thanks again for your help!

I got tired of my phone not working so well as a GPS so I got me a real one. I went big with this model from TomTom so I can see it easier. I have 2 long rides coming soon so I hope it works good.
