Right handlebar closer to windshield
« on: June 03, 2012, 07:05:17 PM »
I've had my 2009 GV250 for 1.5 yrs and there have been no accidents.  Bought new.

But my DH just noticed that when you turn the handlebars fully to the left and right,
the right brake lever is much closer to touching the windscreen than the left one is when turned appropriately.
The steering appears to rotate the same amount in each direction and the handlebars appear to be straight when the steering is straight ahead.

So, I thought I would get a few other owners to check out their handlebars/windshields.

Scoot safely,

PS>  Had a nice 2hr ride this AM before it got hot.

The levers are adjustable. Yours just may be out of position. To check for "square" I run a tape from the bar end to the axle bolt. Take a string, and align the front tire with the rear, then pull the tape from the bar end to any point on the body. My guess is the lever is just twisted

Thanks for the info, but when you say lever, do you mean the brake lever or the handlebar itself?

Thanks and scoot safely,

The brake lever. It will move several mm's in any direction. The bars also adjust a little from left to right. (twist) I would measure the Bars, and adjust the lever/bars accordingly.

My DH looked at the scooter closely and it really looks like the steering really does turn more to the left than to the right.
Guess I will have to get in the parking lot and see if there diameter of turn is different for the two directions.

Have a Safe & Happy 4th.
