Blinkers stop working
« on: June 06, 2012, 04:06:05 AM »
When I hit the brakes my blinkers stop working, this is only after I replaced the burnt out bulb. I used 1157LL for the bulb. Im pretty sure its the same one I pulled out but I threw it away as they were junk.
I just got this one and decided to put it to service after I installed a Corsa on it. Didnt notice the light problem until tonight of course. Ill tear it apart in the morning but Im hoping someone else has had this problem and fixed it.
Also the headlights, tail lights and dash lights are kind of dim, and the starter doesnt work, but I dont know if it ever did. I dont think it could be a ground issue, I started it with out the battery installed to see if maybe it would be different.

All those issues scream of bad ground to me. The lights are normally dim until you rev it up. If they are still dim then it is a bad ground from battery top frame. I'm guessing it's the front light/blinker you replaced. That is showing it is the wrong bulb. If it blinks fast it is a bad rear if it lights, but doesn't flash it's a bad front. If it doesn't light at all its power/ground/flasher unit. Pull your new bulbs to test. I've had 6 starter motors in 4+ years. I gave up, and just kick start. Will the starter turn over if you jump it straight to the battery?

I replaced the tail light bulbs actually. The blinkers work great until I hit the brake. It takes a sec for the brake light to come on also, like not very instantaneous more delayed. Im thinking about putting a Naruko high speed pulley on this one also, you cant use the starter with that one but its amazing. I dont mind kicking it so screw the starter, its a 72cc not a 250 with bad compression lol. Any ill effects if I just remove the starter? Thanks for your insight zombie!
Ah ya, the starter makes a buzzing sound/ feeling along with the relay. Im going to hit it with a long ratchet handle while I click it.

It all sounds like a bad ground. The delay in the brake light may be from searching for an alternate ground source. Have you checked the regulator? Its under the front cowl. You should have 13+ volts at high idle coming out of it.
I also use Bosch relays for the starter if that is bad.
For removing the starter completely.... I remove the  mount from the starter case, and use the mount to block off the hole.
What is the Nakaru  pulley? do you have a link to one? I am planning on going back to the Ruckas var when I am tuned up. It's almost 20mm bigger.

I think I saw someone on here had a broken one. I will try to get pictures up when i get back from the family in a couple weeks. I love this corsa on this zx, I had the corsa on a 89 elite with a AF16 and it rocked. This feels safer thanks to the disc brake and 12 inch tires.

I'm digging the Corsa myself. I couldn't imagine one on 10" wheels. That must be another world.

Where do you hook your green wire coming out of the engine harness to? I used the outside of the starter housing, maybe its suppose to go under the starter housing?
The Kymco zx manual I downloaded isnt very good with the picture quality.

I notice with out my battery plugged in I have no blinkers and my horn sounds horse. Its almost as tho its saying Meh instead of beep! lol, I think maybe my voltage regulator is bad, Im going to swap it with one of my elite ones and see whats up. I should just go buy a multimeter again but my friend keeps promising to bring it back, I think hes waiting for me to go out of town and forget about it.

It was the damn regulator, took my whole body off and checked every wire, I really wish I had my multi meter hours ago. At least I had a spare one or 4. Damn that sucked.

Dude! There are picts of my body on here somewhere. I glassed the inside to make a one piece shell out of the three main rear sections. That way you use the tail light, and seat bucket to hold on the body. 4 bolts/nuts, and the entire section is off. I prettied mine up by doing the body work on the outside as well but the time it took to modify was equal to removing/replacing it one time. I have made a few bucks doing the same for 2 local scoots. (TGB, Pierspeed)
Glad you got the lights up too
