Agility 125 tire valve stems
« on: June 07, 2012, 06:50:55 PM »
Around last tire change (6 months ago) I told my gf to replace tire valve stems while tires are off the rim. The mechanic said that they do not have that type of stems, so the old ones were put back on.
It seems that I was a prophet, because today rear tire was fully deflated and after inspection I found out that something is wrong with valve stem - when I push it, the air goes out.

I cannot find in the manual any reference to these wonder-stems. What is their exact English name, what type should I look for, length etc?

Tnx.

My local tire shop didn't even ask about them when they replaced the tires,
I found out they were new when I went to check the air pressure for the
first time.

I'd give Marcel Moto in Rijeka a call, other then being a Kymco dealer, he's got
all the tire replacing stuff too.

I assume you have the service/repair manual for the bike?
No info there?

I use the bottom ones on the page but the top ones are much easier to fill due to the angle. I have always used all meatl bolt ons. Goes back to the Moto cross days.

Also, they come in different neck sizes. You have to measure the neck or hole on the wheel otherwise you might end up buying the wrong size.

I thought so, hence my question. :) I need exact dimensions of those... because I cannot find the reference in service manual for A125. :(

Valve stems are classified by their material, diameter of intended rim hole, length, and shape.
I think most models/manufacturers use the TR-  reference.

TR-4 - straight metal stem (8 mm dia.)
TR-6 - straight metal stem (8 mm dia.)
TR-13 - straight rubber stem (11.5 mm dia.)
TR-15 - straight rubber stem (16 mm dia.)
    TR-87 - short 90° metal stem (10 mm dia.)
    TR-87C - tall 90° metal stem (10 mm dia.)

    TR 413- 0.453" rim hole diam.(11,50mm) 1,25" long (=31,8mm)
    TR 415- 0.625" rim hole diam.(15,87mm) 1,25" long (=31,8mm)
    TR 418- 0.453" rim hole diam.(11,50mm) 2" long (=50,8mm)
    TR 425- 0.625" rim hole diam.(15,87mm) 2" long (=50,8mm)

    TR 412 - most motorcycles

The standard valve has the following threads:

External thread

Metric: 7.7 mm OD, thread root diameter is 6.9 mm × 0.794 mm pitch.
Imperial: 0.305 in OD, thread root diameter 0.271 in × 32 tpi (threads per inch)

Internal thread (to accept the threaded valve core)

Metric: 5.30 mm OD × 0.706 mm pitch
    Imperial: 0.209 in OD × 36 tpi.

BTW, these is an American Standard

Maybe you can just measure to be sure.

Gave up on removing rear tire. Central nut is something bigger than 23, I have only wrenches up to 23. :( It is 25 or 27.
Incredible, it felt like I had to disassemble a bulldozer...
It will go to tire repair shop in a day or two.

Lol!   That's just the American Standard! There's the British, French, etc. types also.

Just measure the valve stem (the part that rests on the hole) with a caliper and that's it!
All stems sold on line have measurements. You can just compare. I would guess your stem
is .45  inches or around 11-11.5mm.
