I had one of those holy sh** moments last night, big time. The trick is not to wait too much longer than fifteen or 30 mins or overnight, like I did, before figuring out the extent of damage. Then you start to take it out on the girlfriend, wife, kids, and dog hahaha. People can usually tell from my demeanor how well tinkering with my scooter went. If I went well I'll buy ya a beer, if not I will I will throw a beer at your face.  ;D

If i come in from the garage whistling or singing then talk to me, if i come in mumbling or cursing then dont. Its the unwritten rule in my house lol.

Nothing worse than when things dont go as easy as you thought they would and it puts you on a downer and you hate the world (cos obviously its all their fault) but when things go well or you get to the bottom of an annoying problem and fix it then things are fantastic and you love everyone  :D

Ok, so here is my current "thing"/problem. When I start it it chokes if i give it some throttle.. Have to wait for a while to slowly give it the throttle neccesary to move.. Then its usually ok.. Could it be that it needs a bigger jet?

You didnt touch the carb at all did you? Just did the variator?

When you say it chokes, do you mean like its going to stall?

Mine does that if its real wet or cold sometimes if i dont let it warm up before i ride it. In that weathet i normally turn on my scoot on the stand and then leave it to run while i get my gear on, after a few mins the revs die down when the auto-choke goes off and im good to go. On days like that if i dont warm it up 1st it wont run as well and even stalls or cuts out at traffic lights etc sometimes, if i let it warm up tho its fine.

What size jet is in it now? Should be 82 if its de-restricted but still on the stock air filter. Even if its only got an 80 jet in i wouldnt expect amy idle issues.

Does it idle ok and its only when you give it some throttle it "chokes"? Once its warmed up and running is it ok or does it always feel like its choking?

Its fine, just takes some time to get it revved up..

After opening the carb it can take a few seconds of cranking to start it up, you normally have to let it keep going till the float bowl fills up with fuel again. 1st time i did my jet i thought i had broken something cos it took ages to start up compared to usual.

So is it all good now? Did you take it for a test run, if you did how did it feel, improved?

Took it for a long ride today, and the speed is definantly improved.. I tried to "floor it" on a looong downhill, and got it up to 90 kp/h... In steep uphills though, about 40 kp/h..
And also I felt that it was a bit shaky and made some wierd noises some times.
Other than that, its all good :)

Mine made some weird vibrations and rattles at 1st when i de-restricted and tuned it but it settled down after running in a few days. Just keep an eye on it, if it doesnt go away or gets worse you may need to investigate.

For better uphill speed fit a stiffer contra/torque spring in the rear pulley, stock is rated about 850rpm i think so try a 1000rpm or 1500rpm spring. That'll shift the gearing, keeping it in higher gears longer and downshift sooner when the rpms drop on hills. I do most hills at 30-40mph on a 1500rpm one, keeps it pulling well all the way up.  :)

Anyway, I did get a 1000 rpm contra spring with my Malossi variator set..
And its in the clutch..
