Whining sound..
« on: June 18, 2012, 06:53:10 AM »
As I recall, most scoot owners hear a purring sound of their scoots while accelerating.  The Super 8 (125) however, whines, and I'm not the only one who experiences this. It's a soft whine that's distinct from other scoots I've used. Why is this so? and is it normal? Whatever it is, it sounds nice and doesn't bother me at all.

Maybe the fan? I had the body on the Verucci when I first got it, and the Mirrors had these Tiny holes that would whistle over 30mph. That F'r drove me NUTS!

Hmm...I'm not really sure.  It only happens during acceleration. Move back the throttle back a bit and it stops. Sounds like an airplane taking off...

I have the same issue with my Agility 125. I've had it for almost a year and 2500 kilometers. It sounds like something in the rear end like a metal skipping noise. Accelerate and its there let off and it goes away. I haven't opened the cover of the belt drive to see what it might be yet. I checked the gear lube and changed it, it did look O.K. The breaks don't drag and the rear wheel free spins fine. I think it might be something in the variator.

Maybe check the gear oil to be on the safe side. Most likely it's nothing tho. Maybe the emissions pipe has a leak? Just throwing ideas really...

I love that sound of my Super 8 CVT jet turbine shreiking like an F-4 Phantom with the thrusters on reverse, and then, and then, it's howling like like a guided missile shooshing off the line, making all the cagers say a prayer that I get home safe.

I love that.

Exactly that on my Super 8 and other Super 8 owners as well....

But I was thinking more of a Jedi Speeder Bike...

Are you sure you all are not riding a bunch of China built "lemons"?

Yes, my one makes a peculiar sound too, from about 15-30 mph. Mine's more like a squawk. Has done it since the day I bought it new.
