Yager CVT inspection
« on: June 18, 2012, 04:53:20 PM »
Took the side case off the CVT yesterday expecting to see considerable black dust inside. Surprise! Clean as a whistle! Well, the was a little smudging but the belt looked really good and there was only one dead bug in there. Cleaned the air filter which had a little fuzz on it. All should be well for another 12000 miles.

Yeah, Dave, 12k+. It got from 10k+ to 12 real fast with all our local trips being 100+ miles each.

Hey! I'm two bugs short! I'm on the way to a sanctified dealer right now, Cortez. I will NOT rest until I hear their diagnosis.....

Opened mine after 500 then after 7,000. First was full of black dust, after 7,000, just a little black rubber dust. I just brushed them off with an old paint brush.

Conclusion: If you DIY your oil change from brand new, its a must to likewise open the CVT and clean everything there. Scooter break-in means lots of black dust in the CVT during the first few hundred miles or kms.
