Side stand spring routing
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:07:15 AM »
Hi all, the daughters bike came with the side stand removed (go faster mod...????) I now have one but for the life of me can't find a way to route the spring so it works, it either pulls the stand down ALL the time or up ALL the time, can anyone post some photo's (PLEASE..........) so I can fit this damn thing as the bikes too heavy for her (8stone/112lbs/50Kg) to put on the centrestand on anything but smooth flat ground.

Thanks in advance!

All you need to do is to hook the spring to the stand and the plate, right?

Isn't the Agility side stand self-retracting? Meaning, its up all the time? It retracts when lifted from the ground.

Vivo, if its self retracing then I got it right once, I assumed it would be an over centre spring so the spring held it down and up depending where you pushed it to, that is what I'm used to on bigger bikes.

Streido, no, didn't know it was on here, will go look, photo's would be great, also whether the spring loops round the stand from in front or behind!

Its meant to always pull the stand up when the bikes weight is off it. You prob had it on correct earlier. You hold it down with your foot then lean the bike on it to keep it down, soon as you prop the bike up straight it should pop up.

Man i really need to jetwash under there  ::)

When u do get it on and shes using it tell her to give it a little kick forwards once its sitting on it, hold the bars tho too, thats what i do.

I only use the side stand for short stops or to pose if i park next to some bikes, theyre not too steady i feel and a knock on the scoot by a passer by would knock it over im sure. Centre stand is much safer. You cant rev it up on the side stand either or it goes flying forwards.

Theres a knack to the main stand so its easy, you just need to get used to it, took my wife 2-3wks but now she finds it easy when before she couldnt do it at all.

Left hand on l/h grip, right hand on l/h side of luggage bar, right foot on main stand, stand one footed on main stand and slightly pull back with hands if needed. Just practice, its simple, your weight lift ot on the stand, even do it one handed now  :D

Maybe the side stand was removed by the previous owner for safety purposes.

By the way Rookie, because of your question, Streido now has to clean his scoot... ;D
