The way Malossi has them rated is green, violet, blue, red. Those roughly translate to 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 / race.
The white, and yellow from my understanding are to replace the OEM for a "fresh" start. One is 36mm, and one 37 I believe. Either way they are stiffer but in no way as stiff as you may want. The Voilet Malossi is the one for best overall use. 1,500 in other brands.

For the boss being shorter... I meant in my engine as example. xz has a 34mm boss. gy6/kymco 2t's have 38mm

..they all short, waaay shorter than the white 1000, but definatly are RATED 1500, per the malossi oem packaging ...

..also have a red malossi mhr, which is rated 2000...

This is what I am going by... I haven't found the Scale link yet... They compare all the pressures on a table scale. Compressed pre load vs install height pre load.
The % numbers Malossi lists are based on how many times more force the spring has. Ie... 40% stronger than oem/60% stronger ect...
They have the yellow/white listed as "reinforced" (sounds like oem or weaker to me)

.the key is the (+)....add 106% to the base rating...

I read somewhere on the internet that the white malossi was rated @ 800. But anyway, it takes 30 kg to fully compress it, which is the same as the standart spring.

Yesterday when I was installing my malossi multiyear and 1500 contra spring I played with the white one that comes with the multiyear and it did seem very close to the stock one...

..this i can tell you from experience, and you can try it for yourself if you like..

..there's no need to guess about it and wonder if what you read is true...



.i installed my first multivar without installing the spring...

..there was improvement in performance...

..a cpl of weeks later, i installed the white spring..

..again there was an improvement in performance..

..the rpms held higher at decelleration, and recovering from a turn..

..also revved higher at take-off, which is desirable if you're trying to get up in the 4t powerband quicker..

A new stock one is roughly the same.
Then theres the MHR stuff... Fu(k all hell if all the colors mean different rates ... again! Black is the new Red! Red is the new Violet, and so on. This is my first time trying Malossi springs, and so far I have three springs because I didn't like two of them. Thats for this build. The red was great in an 86cc. Blue is like a used 1500. It's not impressive by itself but it's not meant to be so ... mission accomplished. Purple/6.5gr rollers works for me. I'd guess about 14-16hp /12-13k rpm /380lbs. bike, rider.
