new 300GTi engine vibration
« on: June 24, 2012, 04:34:08 AM »
I have about 550 mile on my GTi300 and it has started running very rough and it vibrates a lot. You can feel it in the seat and see the handle bars shake.
My father-in-law took a look at it , and wile it was idling he put his hand over the end of the exhaust and it almost died. He said it is not getting enough air. Is this correct? Could it be a clogged air filter?
I am going to bring it in to the dealer as it is still under warranty but wanted some ideas of what it might be wrong before I talked to them.

OK, I checked the air filter and it looked fine. I pulled the spark plug and it also looked fine, just a little gray. I wonder if it could be bad gas? I guess I will just have to wait for the dealer to take a look at it.

Engines die when you cover the exhaust. If it does not, there's a leak on the exhaust.  ;)

Check all the bolts and mounts. Sometimes it's just all the simple things.....
