1000 Miles later
« on: June 27, 2012, 01:51:54 AM »
I can't believe how much this bike has changed after one thousand miles! Gas mileage, acceleration, and top end speeds.
This is my second  Kymco the first was a 2010 Super 8 and I was beginning to regret my swap until this week.
I ride this bike 40 miles daily
Today I got off the bike and just said........ wow that was a fun ride home!

I have read a few not so favorable reviews about this scooter and wonder if any review should ever be written until the engine is properly broken in.

Change the oil as soon as you got it. (factory oil is crap)

No long rides to avoid to much heat. Heat will result to cylinder wall glazing and stops the break-in process.

No top speed rides, just cruise.

Inspect all bolts, nuts and screws and re-tighten (as per experience, some of my scoot's were loose)

Open and clean CVT after 400 or 500 miles. (Lots of break-in belt dust at this time)

Use high octane fuel.

I like pure gas if you can find it (non ethanol) . Use recommended oils. Vary the throttle (don't cruise at one constant speed).
Stay off wet grass after several glasses of cheap wine .
Kymco has one of the best warranty periods in the industry, try to save any major modifications until that's up.

I still want a BV350.

Can't get pure gas around where I am, have to ride 50 miles one way to find it. I use 93 octane with a dash of Sta-Bil Ethanol Treatment to offset that mess.

Great news.  How stubborn was the cvt case to get off?  Mine wouldn't budge... did you pry some of the tabs, use a rubber mallet?  I removed all the bolts and was concerned it I'd leave tell tale marks in the case.

I'm about 100 miles into the break-in first tank of gas getting over 70 mpg.  Love this scoot!

I'm up to 85 miles now, mid-range power seems pretty good. I can't wait to open er' up.
