Stripped clutch nut...
« on: July 08, 2012, 11:38:59 PM »
Had a hard time getting everything back together after replacing my clutch springs and apparently stripped my clutch nut...

Didn't know it was bad till I started having issues when riding. It would start to die after running when getting to a stop sign  or traffic light  unless  I would give it gas and apply the brake to keep rpms up... Worried I took the cvt cover off

Oops posted too soon...

Took the cover off and the stripped nut blew off pow!!! Torque spring sprung.

So have to get a New one of those... Is this common?

Also in the torque spring are there two plastic  pieces or just the one? I had one like a sleeve cap that I had on the top of the spring. Maybe it was supposed to very on the bottom??? Top being the outside close to the clutch.

Nother sure if I lost a piece the first time I put in the new spring....

Thanks!

...from looking at the pic of the malossi, it should go next to the torque driver pulley, inside the existing spring's seat...

The clutch bell nut is fine when I was taking it off the big thin nut under the clutch bell is stripped and popped off.
Trying to post a pic of it... My pic is too big.

Is the nut striped or the threads on the clutch? Or both?

Spring is good. Dont know if that piece should be on top or bottom when putting back together though. Had it on top... I think, it all shot out cause of the stripped nut..
Guess I will order a couple of these http://www.racingplanetusa.com/clutch-m28x1-minarelli-p-15546-1.html?cPath=2_2416_13596&sessID=b665c110af6cf9d4fcf15ce4c1273ce3

Only one I could find but I know they will take forever to get it...

Me too

Yeah you only need one. If it comes off again something else is wrong. I assume the threads are ok???

Pic try

That is the OEM part. It is NOT a ball bearing dampener. The piece you have goes on the pulley side. The Yellow Malossi plastic piece goes on the clutch side. The piece you have is to keep the spring from coiling into the pulley sleeve.
