I haven't experienced any bad things with it, and with rollers which is not worn down, it gave me an extra 5 km/h. Until my rollers became worn, and the gain has disappeared.

If you shave 1mm-1.2mm off the boss then you will get similair gains on the stock 729mm belt and it wont go away once the rollers wear down. At least i havent found any loss yet anyway from mine. I ran a 736mm Malossi and gained 4-6mph on it but after a month or 2 i lost it again and couldnt get it back even on new rollers. Shaved my boss to 36.8mm and put in a stock belt and im getting similair gains. The short boss lets the ramp plate and rollers push the variator closer at full speed.

Cool! I'll definately try that one soon, what kind of tools have you used to get it shaved so it isn't uneven? :D
And doesn't that affect the lowest gear and takeoff? :)

I had a lathe at work so got the operator to do it on that for me. It will have to be done properly so its got a straight end and so you can measure exactly how much you shave off. Mine is 36.8, took 1,2mm off it. I got a set of electronic measuring gauges off ebay ages ago and used that to check it, was perfect.
Yes, it did very slightly reduce my take off speed but not significantly. Actually it was a less that when i ran the longer belt.

If you do shave it down then you prob need a washer behind the variator nut to keep the spacing or you will torque onto the threads end of the crank and the variator will still be loose. I learned this the hard way  ::)

I shaved mine down but only enough so I can stell have the threads there.works for a better idle.

Mine didnt, had a metal washer moulded into the fan and the nut is kinda flared at the end too but i had no washer. I do now tho  :)

Mine is the same as Steroido. Someone replaced his with a 2t version. Is there also a small (1mm) ridge type washer cast onto the inside of the pulley face? to space the boss? That may be why you need to cut the boss!

Yup, been there too. Once you find a belt that does work just take a note of it so you know for next time.
 
Zombie - i def dont have a washer cast into the pulley face tho? It looks like what was in there was all stock original when i got it, it was all still restricted and had done about 7000km i think, was a female owner so dont think s.he did anything to it apart from having it serviced locally. Maybe the fan had been swapped in the past but it def looked stock? I had had issues when i got to 45mph and it felt like it was restricted at that point cos the rollers couldnt push off the ramp plate to push the variator any closer for some reason. Soon as i shaved my boss it went past 45 with no hesitation or feeling of the restriction. It drove me mad for months trying to work out what was going on till i finally sussed it.
