Any Computer Issues with the DT 300?
« on: July 15, 2012, 10:38:47 PM »
Two members of the People 300i have posted complaints concerning the computer on their bikes.  The complaints are quoted below:

“…had problems with running, wouldn't go over 75 mph and gas mileage was low 60-65. twice at dealer to replace cdi-computer. of course no codes so no replacement.”

Another member posted:

“The engine would turn over, but not start. On further examination, we noticed that the sound of the fuel pump spooling up was no longer audible. After conferring with the Kymco regional people, they concluded that the ECU was bad.”

Since I believe that the engines are the same on both the DT 300 and the People 300 I assume the computers would be the same.  Have there been any faulty computer issues with the DT 300? There are a lot more of them than People 300s – so it might just be a case of bad luck.

Thanks in advance.

From what I've seen ... Just bad luck. No real re-occurring issues.

i have had my dt for nearly a year now....i have not encountered anything yet....nor from anyone i blog with who has the same scooter.....while the dt is realitively new to the us market....its been around as the grand dink in parts elsewhere.....it seems standard practice these days to go right for the ecu as the culprit......understandable given all the sensors and peripherals it controls.....certain brands/models develop a reputation for some parts constantly needing to be replaced '''''''''''have not heard anything on the dt yey

I have had mine for 14 months now. I have had to reset the throttle position sensor a couple of times with a problem like the first complaint. Simple to do and both times it seemed to be connected with a hard stop from hi way speed. BTW it is now at about 28,000KM.
