I think you're right baddi

Then the stator or the wires might be bad, so check those before buying a new battery, if you have never run your battery flat. :)

Isn't the headlight usually getting power from the stator?

I think our A50 headlight comes from the battery, as does the rear light but not the brake light. When my rectifier went bad i saw these light dimmed as my battery lost charge. I even had to ride with my lights off my moutain bike tie-wrapped on as an emergency one morning to get to work  :D

talk about getting off track from the original topic posted......anyway......upgrades and wish lists....if you think kymco's owners manuals are deficient,,you should see my hyosung manual.....you need a translator to read it (in English) ....my biggest gripe on my dt 300...would be more electrical power and need for bigger battery with more cranking power......over the years i realized you just have to find a way to get your hands on a shop manual......the owners manual you get with the scooter is essentially an abridged (extremely so) version of the shop manual.......

Hahaha! My old china scoot didn't even have a manual.  Who reads a manual anyway? Just joking!  ;D

My Kymco's lights are also powered by the battery. Also with the CDI., DC fired CDI. That's why I cannot start the engine with a weak battery even if you use the kick start. Wierd... I always thought that one of the purpose of the kick start is that you can start the scoot if you're battery goes low.  ???

Zx is an AC voltage cdi so it starts as soon as the stator gets s signal. The Peop/s9's have a DC cdi that needs a good battery to fire the spark.

What Kymco NEEDS is a Dealer Training certification program. And good manuals included with the bike.

zombie is 100 percent right.....but this gets into additional costs to the manufacturer and passed thru by dealer...etc....piaggio/vespa won't let you sell their scooters unless dealer or his agent/employee go through the training......the lesser known struggling brands have few requirements and are just looking to store inventory with any dealer who will take their scooters......
