You can usually buy a new lock, and then change it by removing the two bolts which holds it. One of the bolts are a security bolt which cannot be unscrewed because the head is snapped off and a conic shape is left instead. Use a hacksaw to cut the conic head aparrrrrrrt and remove the lock.

Item 350 is a complete lock set
http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/OemParts?aribrand=YAM#/Kymco_USA/SC10AS_ZX50/Wiring_Harness_%2f%2f_Electrical_Components/2K01120005/01120069

Once the front and side covers are off it's pretty straight forward. No security bolt on the ZX. The seat lock is cable controlled. Once the cable is removed there is a clip holding the lock cylinder in. Pulls out with needle nose pliers. Glove box cylinder comes out the same way.

No security bolt?! Damnit, that would be easy to steal then. :p

Mine was stolen and then recovered when it was with the previous owner. They ripped the front cover off. and tried to jack up the ignition. Actually... come to think of it, I think it only had one bolt in it. It may have had one at one point  ???

All of my bikes had the goose neck lock on when they got stolen. Just because you can lock the steering doesnt mean they wont put it on its back tires and walk away with it. I now use a bike lock on my back wheels on all my scooters. It will take 2 people this time to steal them.

I do the same. Actually I find something to lock it to. But...  bolt cutters are easy to use. I just feel better about it using a cable lock.
