Anyone tried Evo rollers...

...in a "standard" 500? Evo uses 29x22mm 33g and my 2007 carb. 28x22 30g.

I would not try it! Size not the same, and way different weight.

I'm gonna test it. They are only 1mm larger and 3g heavier. The extra wheight could be a positive thing at cruicing speed. Combined with open air filter, jet kit and full flow exhaust even better. ±3g are normal range of adjustments on a 50cc so why not on a 500cc? Don't think it make a huge difference. Anyone using 33g in an carb xc?

Read on an German site that it was possible. Gonna see if I can find it again.

My EVO has 28x22 33gr and not 29x22. I changed them with 28x22 29gr Dr Pulley rollers and I saw huge difference. The 3gr that you say it's not a small difference because there are 6 rollers in the variator. That means that the difference is 6x3gr= 18gr.

I said ±3g on a 50cc are normal so why not on an 500cc? Both have 6 rollers and total 18g. Dr. Pulley are very different product and I am interested in how people think of 3g heavier rollers. Lower rpm on cruise etc. According to the German guy there are people who use 29x22mm. True or not, I don't know.

Bigger size could jam in variator and snap belt or worse? I think it would be foolish to do so. Start by going up in weight first. I think by going up 3 grams, your take off speed will be horrible, and your highway RPM's will drop down out of the power range? You need to understand that the ramp plate angle is probably completely different from the new 5oo and the old?

I forgot to say. I would go with a Malossi variator if you want more performance. Check out malossionline for best prices.

Have tested Malossi, Polini and J.Costa in my Nexus. Dont want performance, just lower cruice speed and looking for someone who have tested +3g and KNOW how the bike acts.

Just go 10% lighter then stock with Dr Pulley sliders and you get better acceleration, and
after about 60mph you get results like using heavier weights then stock (less revs, usually
same top speed, better MPG figures).

It's the best mod for a normal CVT transmission.
I regret installing Malossi Multivar at this point, I liked the stock+dr pulley that much.

I'll try Dr Pulleys in the Malossi and if that doesn't work, I'm selling the damn thing!

Cortez, how much do you want for it? Send me pm if you are selling it. Have heard many complains about Dr. Pulley. Belt snaps, worn out in notime.. are some of the things I have heard. Did you have any issues?

I don't ride the xc500 so it won't fit, and shipping would probably be $70-80

I've got around 7000km on the stock
cvt and sliders, they're just slightly worn,
and can do at least 10.000 more, the belt
wear was almost unnoticable at 9.000 km.

According to my source both bikes uses the same variator. Noice, fuel consumption, injection are things they talked about. That's why they use different size. Gonna find out.

The FI bike revs less, and if I remember correctly, reaches it's maximum torque at lower revs too.
That is probably the only reason for different weights.

Yes, and size (1mm = almost nothing). They can still have different part nr. on the pulley but in real life it's the same product.
