Full face helmets Shoei RF-1100 Arai Vector 2 HJC RPS10
« on: July 27, 2012, 09:18:43 PM »
I can fit into any and am wondering if one is better in your mind and why?  Let me know.   All are full faced.   My understanding is that the Shoei and Arai are Japanese, the HJC is Korean and that for HJC this model (RPS-10) is considered an upgrade relative to the rest of their lineup.  Any advice appreciated.

I have and use an HJC for day to day commuting, and it's comfortable for me.  It is a bit noisy at speeds above 40mph or so (expected for a modular), but the most annoying part is the "double-D ring".  They've mastered a design so that if the strap pulls the outer ring just right, it gets wedged across and latches onto the inside side of the inner ring -- makes for a good test of patience when it comes time to take off the helmet.

Besides that, if you're on more of a budget, also take a look at the Shoei Qwest.  Similar performance-wise to an RF-1100, but more of a touring style.  I picked one up for longer trips, and I find it to be comfortable and much quieter.

Probably the biggest factor in deciding would be how it fits you, so if it's possible, go out and try some on if you've got a store nearby.
