Givi topcase on SHAD plate...

I finally installed my Givi E45 Monokey topcase on the Yager.
Didn't like the look of the Givi rack so I got the SHAD (part# K0YG58ST) instead.
From this forum, I thought I would have to but actually no drilling was required; the fit was tight though.
Although, I wish the case could be slighty forward, it's actually not too bad.
This 45 liters case looks pretty big on the Yager but I need the space so.....

that last picture shows the rear wheel on the ground. is the case that heavy or was it loaded with stuff?

The case was empty!
It is very sturdy and heavy case. The SHAD rack is quite heavy also it doesn't help.
Actually, it was funny because as soon as I put both on the rear rack, the Yager tilted!

actually, ludo, i suspected the topbox was empty.

one of the first things i noticed about the yager was that it didn't take much to tilt it backwards while on the center stand.

(a cautionary tale: i found it also doesn't take much for it to roll forward off the side stand if pointed forward on a downhill slope - learned that the first time i dropped the side stand on my downward sloping driveway. i was just dismounting after dropping the side stand and was still holding onto the handlebars. it didn't drop but came damn close.)

I guess it can be parked only uphill and flat.

I haven't tested the ride with the topcase on but I suspect that I will be looking for heavy handlebar weights very soon ;-)

i removed the handle backrest rack thingy and put a budget box in its place that came with a metal base plate. the back end is actually much lighter now. the cast rack thingy is heavy and i mounted the base plate right to whats there. no tilting unless seat and top box are loaded up.

I went for a ride with an empty topcase and it didn't affect how the bike handles.

One word of caution on these topboxes.  Any amount of weight slung out back of the scoot will have an effect on handling and stability.  On both my Super 9 and the Yager 200, the weight out back can cause a wobble at the handlebars at certain speeds.  Both scoots are so stable without the topbox weight, you can take your hands off the bars and they will usually track straight perfectly.  There is nothing wrong with the steering head bearings or tire pressures.

On the Yager I use the Givi rack with a medium-sized box on top.  Both seem light enough, but loaded up they will definately affect the balance and handling.

That's why Vespa for instance includes some really heavy handlebar weights with their topcases to compensate the front wobble.

Speaking of handlebar weights.... I got some from an old Vespa GTS.
They weigh around one pound (500 grams) (made by Jettin Industries) .... vs  195gr for the OEM.

One problem.... OEM's screw is 8mm .... Jettin's are 6mm.

Any idea on how to make this work?
