« on: July 31, 2012, 01:52:22 PM »
I've been wanting to get a big bore kit, clutch kit, carb kit, and exhaust for my 2001 people 50cc any suggestions as to which are the best and will work good with eachother? If anyone has a good set up let me know what you have and where i can find them!

From what I have read the 2001 people 50 came without any restrictions stock . It should do an indicated 80kph or about 50mph if it is performing properly . Thats about as good as it gets for a 50cc scoot if you also want to maintain reliability . If it NEEDS parts I would stay with stock . JMO . Good luck .

Welcome to the forum  :)

The people is restricted stock. Newer models more than your 2001. If you're doing 50 then it's been de-restricted... Except for the exhaust. That means you're ready to throw a kit on it  ;D. Stock exhaust is always restrictive by nature. Not so much on the 01. They do get clogged with carbon though.

Two big names for BBks are Malossi and Polini.
Hot parts supplier on the forum right now. Discount for mentioning the forum  :)

I have a Malossi BBk and it's great. Malossi 19mm carb kit(Dellorto) matches the kit great. I love my Dellorto  ;D. Tecnigas is a common exhaust brand on the forum. If you do go that route I suggest spending a little extra and getting the RS2 pipe. It will match the BBK better and allow higher RPMs. Here is a great link to an exhaust comparison chart

Wordslinger has been swearing by some new clutch kit he has. Dr Pulley HiT I think... Read his thread here

Biggest thing is to take your time and make sure it's done right. The Malossi kit is good, but if you take the time to polish and chamfer all the ports it will be awesome and last way longer. Wish I had. Make sure you get the jetting right. I can't emphasize this more. If you don't know much about tuning a carb, do your homework. Learn about how to do a plug chop. Google and Youtube are your best friends. Take the time to do it right. Good luck and happy scooting  ;D
