Why are some people so disappointed of Dr. Pulley sliders when others love them? Maybee they don't fit all pulleys. A round roller is a round roller and dp don't make type specific sliders.

Some say it's the sizes of sliders available for a particular scoot. Sliders wear out more uniformly than rollers. Actually, rollers does not always roll but also slide, that's why they have flat spots. Rollers also are very cheap compared to sliders.  Every scoot owner has his (or her) personal preferences/priorites in cost, performance, efficiency, etc.   ;)

I bought 2 pairs of Dr Pulley sliders for my DT300, one set for the stock CVT,
one for malossi multivar cvt. Each set was around $50, shipped thousands of
miles far - got them at buggypartsnw.com.

IMHO, it's the best scooter performance modification that exists.
Have 7000km on the first set in stock CVT, you can hardly see any wear,
and the belt was fine.

What size and weight are those sliders in your DT?

The 500 X uses 28x22 stock, 30 gram, and the Malossi for it uses 25x22, but I'm not sure what weight would be optimum.

As far as I know, the Dr. Pulleys are discontinued in 28x22, and it may be due to problems specific to the 500 X as experienced first hand by Sissy.

Or maybe they didn't sell enough of 'em to keep stocks up, but I'd still try some if I could find any.

The stock were 20x12mm, 15.5gr, went to 14gr sliders (-10% as recommended by Dr Pulley guys).
The multivar weights are 23x18mm, got it with 20gr weights which makes the bike ride up the
redline all the time, so I bumped it up to 23gr (wanted 24, wasn't available).

Extremely happy with the results now, got low revs cruising around, and it'll still rev to almost
redline when you open it up completely (7500, and was 5500 stock, 6500 with pulleys in stock cvt).

Good thing is I still get 500 revs less at speeds above 65mph (compared to stock), and it'll still
accelerate faster then any other setup.

Using the stock contra-spring all the time.

The weight depends on what you're trying to do.
Just bare in mind that using the same weight of pulleys as your stock rollers will keep the revs
at the same spot up to about 2/3 of available top speed, and then it'll begin to drop A LOT, which
can result in lower top speed (or more time to get there).

This happened to me going from 15.5gr to 14gr, lost about 2-3mph, but the revs were a lot lower.

High revs for quick take off, then a steady climb to low revs at top end. That's precisely what I'm hoping to achieve.

I've got the carb tuned with a 40 pilot jet and a 125 main jet with a stock airbox and a Leo Vince free flow exhaust.  The stock main was a 118 and it was popping a lot on decceleration, but the 125 smoothed it out so it ran cooler.

I'm still talking X500 here, but on the Super 8, the sliders in a GY6 variator just didn't perform, 13 or 14 gram, revs too high and no top end. I went with 14 gram rollers in a lightweight Hoca variator, and 13 gram rollers in an off the self GY6 variator for optimum response.

This thread is confusing, and I'm getting confused, because of all the different scoots being compared. The principles are being defined though, and that's what's important.

ce, you went from a 118 to a 125, how did thid effect your MPG at hwy way speeds? And why did you go to a 40 pilot? This only effects your idle? :-*

The pilot jet actually works for the first quarter up until about half open on the throttle as the needle moves up out of the main jet.
A 40 pilot is stock on both the 250 X and the 500 X, and it's a 38 in the Grand Vista.

The 125 for the 500 x was needed because of the Leo Vince exhaust, and although it puts more fuel, I tend to lay off the throttle a little because the response is better and it doesn't feel starved at mid range like it was. I'm hoping the fuel consumption won't go up, even with the larger jet, as long as I don'thold it wide open all the time.

I haven't had an opportunity to ride a full tank yet, but we'll see.

The V8 pipes are very popular in Taiwan. It costs around P5,500.00 here or around $130.00. Performs good too... Nobody, I mean, nobody would buy a $400.00 pipe here. That's two months salary for a lot of people.

Leovince or Arrow for DT300 and/or XC500 are over $500 here.
Cheaper stuff is usually not road legal, and cops started checking that stuff about a year ago.
