Disaster Relief in the Philippines
« on: August 15, 2012, 01:41:10 AM »
Vivo
I would like to wire a sum of money to help with disaster relief. I am unsure of the integrity of the agencies in that part of the world
making sure the money goes to those that need it rather than to "administrative" costs. I would think that your national Red Cross
would be a safe bet. I would hope that your other friends on the Forum would also contribute in this time of your country's need. Please advise on a valid relief fund or if you think the Red Cross would be the best bet.

Nice idea Mike. I'd help too but I'm currently helping a heard of Pygmies or midgets or some such dwarf types living in some remote village in New Jersey. The only time they write is when they need money...

Hi Vivo

Talked with a very nice young lady,(Consuela) in the central office of The Red Cross in Manila.
She was a lot of help in arranging transfer of funds and reassurance of account integrity.
She was very grateful and said that there were thousands of people without shelter or
food.
By the way I noticed that you live about 12 hours ahead of me on the world's clock.
So right now you are experiencing tomorrow? Please inform me of what my Saturday
is going to be like. Also should I still hang on to the lousy Facebook stock or should I go ahead
and dump it. If we can work out some kind of arrangement and you can keep me informed
of tomorrow's events, horse races, and lottery numbers we can become extremely
wealthy. And by the way I will always get in touch before airplane flights.
On a serious note thank you so much for your kind e-mail.

Mike

Thank you! thank you very much Mike!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D A lot of people will benefit from even a small amount. One dollar is around 43 Pesos and that's a lot already! You can buy a decent meal for 30 pesos... I'm one of those lucky ones because I have relatives here and in the U.S. who helped. I also helped those neighbors in need here. That's life's all about, right? Good things come to those who share...

Hmm...living 12 hours ahead, I think your tomorrow will be fine and sunny, and watch out for that pot hole and the dog crossing the road at around 10:34 a.m. Facebook? I use my CB radio to communicate... breaker 1-9, this here's the Raven... :D
