New cinema releases due out. Cant wait
« on: August 17, 2012, 08:34:21 PM »
Looks like its a great time for movies over the next few weeks with some real good flicks coming out or already out, going to be good for a trip to the cinema,or at least good for illegal downloads if thats your bag.

Looking forward a few, Total Recall remake, Expendables 2 for example for popcorn action filcks.

Also really  looking forward to the new Tarantino movie Django Unchained cos for me Tarantino never failed to deliver yet, the guys a genius, and this looks to be keeping up his tradition in every way......

But what i have been waiting for since it was announced it was i  production is this.........

Its going to be the bomb this autumn, been a fan of Dredd since i read 200AD every week as a kid/teen,this movie is going to rock, bigtime. Do not confuse it with Stallone's fake-ass attempt a while ago, that bore little resemblance to the original concept or comic strip, this does, and the original artists and writers of that comic are on board so it willbe as it should be.

There's a new sheriff in town, his name is Dredd.........and he IS the law!

Whats everyone else looking forward to or seen lately? Anything good?

Go see total recall if you want but I was young when the original came out, enjoyed it enough then, wasn't too crazy with the new one.

It was OK but it took some time to get going and when it did there wasn't the great points I expected, overall a disappointment.

I'm looking forward to the Expendables, and Jackson's the Hobbit at the end of the year -- first film to be shown at 48 frames per second. Will be a real game changer. I friend of mine works at ILM, and tends to give me some inside perspective on things, but I tend to look away for films I want to see.

I was excited to hear about Dredd, but it's a close ripoff of an martial arts film called The Raid, about a few elite tactical police officers trapped in a project building owned by a drug dealer. The Drug lord orders all of the occupants to kill them. Here's a site about it:

I was afraid of that 08 , remakes rarely live up to the original . Its annoying because the original is still a good movie, just a little dated looking now bit the story is still great. Think i may pass on it now :( or wait till i find it on a torrent site.

Yeah wolf, that movie has been mentioned before but i believe that it ripped off the Dredd storyline and they just happened to release it 1st? Or so i read anyway.

Personally i cant stand LOTR or Hobbit at all. Tried to watch the 1st one but i walked away before half way. I just cant stand all that fairytale/fantasy type movies like that, dont know why ??? I liked 300 and films based on actual events set in days of old etc but just cant stand things like LOTR or Harry Potter etc, maybe it was just down to the main actors in both those movies, dont think so tho. I just dont get dungeons, dragons, wizards or spells etc ???

Loved Peter Jacksons film District 9 tho, thats one of my top 100 movies without a doubt, poss in the top 20 even.

I like the Wizard of Oz tho, still do, excellent film, as is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang too, thats one of my fave movies. Go figure that out lol. ???

For Bourne movie buffs, I also got a chance to see the latest Bourne movie (#4), it was OK too, took a short while to get you to know who the new "bourne" is but things picked up after that. The biggest problem was that it ended out of the blue, almost like the writers went to lunch and said, lets call it a wrap!

There will be a #5 for sure. All in all, better than total recall but not as good as the other Bourne movies.

I did like the 1st Bourne movie but cant remember the others, tho im sure i saw them. Saw the trailer for the new one and it looked not too bad. I hate it when you wait for a new movie to come out then they do that sh** and split it so it just ends with no real conpletion to the story. Just another marketing ploy to make you want to go see the next one, same thing they did in the old days with the saturday morning serials where the hero is left hanging from the branch of a tree above a ravine 1000ft above the ground, "What will he do now? Is this the :D end of Blaze? Tune in next week to find out".

May try catch up on Bourne sometime before the new one come out on dvd, wouldnt go pay money to see it tho.

Zombie i also love a good scary movie but its just hard to find something original these days cos its all been done before normally. If its new and fresh scary im in tho. Saw Zombie movies of the 70's & 80's as a 11-13yr old and they scared the sh** out of me, Zombie, Dawn of the dead, day of the dead etc, scarey sh**. Just rewatched them all a year or 2 ago. Zombies, Werewolfs and stuff still give me the creeps. Lol.

You seen Outpost from a few yrs ago? Good movie i thought, cant go wrong with Nazi zombies really  :D

If you haven't read any of the LOTR books, you probably won't get the movies, but LOTR and Potter are night and day, like comparing the Power Rangers to 300. I think The Raid came out about a year ago, so I don't think it ripped off Dredd, though it may be a case of one of those coincidences of similar ideas for the same movie.

Love the last Bourne movie, but I'll wait for the new one to come out on DVD. I'm not into illegal downloads. If I want to see a movie I want it to look great, plus downloading takes jobs away from fellow animators, filmmakers and many of my students.

I know what you mean Wolf about the downloads but i will only download a movie that i know i would never spend money going to see anyway. If its a movie i really want to see i will go see it, like dredd.

Maybe if the movie corps had got with the program and kept up with the times by offering legit downloads then we wouldnt have the while pirate download problem we have now?

Same principle applies to music too for me, if its a band i love i will go buy the album on cd (dont do itunes cos i hate CrApple).

I have downloaded albums which i already own on vinyl tho since i already paid for it anyway.

I would happily pay a monthly fee to download the latest cinema releases from a legit source but they wont do it. Thing is they would make MORE money doing this since i would pay for that but would not pay to go see most new movies in the cinema.  :-\
