CVT Help!
« on: August 19, 2012, 04:05:34 PM »
OK guys, so getting into my cvt to swap out the pulleys, I noticed the ones in there are very, very, greased. The a50 obviously dont come greased, not to mention the twisting action takes much more force than whats there now.  I bought the malossi grease for cvt trannies. So please tell me what to grease. Also, in one of the pics, there is a metal endcap on the contra spring. Do I reuse this, even if I am using the malossi yellow endcap? Thanks guys, just want to get her back together....lol  Pics to follow.

The metal retaining cap has to come off of the stock torque driver assembly, and go onto the new one.  You grease the pins, that fit in the three channels that you see in the new pulley.  The stock Agility pulley does indeed come greased.  If you open it up and there's no grease under there, then there is a good chance that one of the seals is bad, but you'll see the grease on the inside of your CVT cover if that's the case.  At lease, I would think you would.

Another question. My stock pulley has 3 seals (the section that has the cap /sleeve to hold in the grease) ... 2 on the main shaft, and one on the end. The agility pulley only has one on the shaft and one on the end. Sorry no pics. There is no second grove so I can transfer the seal..... ideas?
